SENIOR COLLEGE News2012 C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship Opens SoonThe 2012 C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship opens onMonday 5 December 2011 and closes on Friday 6 January 2012.The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship is one of the most generousprivately funded scholarships available to undergraduate studentsin Australia. Each scholarship is valued at up to $60,000 over fouryears. Information about the C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship and anapplication form are available at www.hawkerscholarship.org orby contacting the secretary to the Trustees on 08 8127 1654.The Charles Hawker Scholarship perpetuates the memory ofscholar, soldier, pastoralist and statesman Charles Allan SeymourHawker and commemorates the achievements of one ofAustralia’s most respected pastoral pioneers.In 2010, seven scholarships were awarded. This year the Trusteesawarded four scholarships to students from three states and theACT. Governor‐General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presented thestudents with their scholarships at a function at GovernmentHouse in Canberra.The scholarships are available to all Australian students. Since1991 the majority have been awarded to students entering theirfirst year of university study.Selection is largely based on personal qualities as well as academicability.
