Capitol Hill Cluster School Where Every Child Achieves Join the PTA, Get Involved & Support the Cluster There are many ways for Cluster families to get involved and work together through the PTA: Join the PTA The Cluster is a strong community of diverse families. The PTA helps build our community by working together to support our students and schools. Through the PTA, we have a broader range of voices and contributions to address opportunities and challenges at our school. Join the PTA to strengthen our community and do more for our students. Be a part of your campus Working Group Working Groups dig into the challenges and opportunities at their campus. They help with projects to enrich and improve learning and school culture, and they help decide how to allocate PTA funds at the campus. Getting involved in a Campus Working Group is a great way to have a direct impact on your child's day-­‐to-­‐day school environment and experiences. Come to PTA meetings and family nights In addition to PTA business, such as fundraising and investing in the Cluster, PTA meetings are informative: families get the latest updates from the admin team on curriculum, differentiated learning, literacy, reading enrichment, DCPS school budgets, and more. PTA family nights are fun ways to meet each other and learn about ways to support your children's learning. Participate in our fundraisers Several major fundraisers, such as Renovator's House Tour, Cluster Rocks Auction, and the Capitol Hill Classic, raise significant money to support our schools. The fundraisers are more successful when more Cluster families volunteer and participate. With money we've raised, the PTA is funding First In Learning Aides and extended learning at Watkins; Spanish instruction at Stuart Hobson and Peabody, The Story of Food at Peabody, and much more at each campus. Be a Room Parent, or stay in touch with your Room Parent Room parents are important communication links between the school, teachers, and families. They help organize parent volunteers and communication on important events, deadlines, and opportunities. Staying in touch with your room parent keeps you in the loop on what's happening in your child's classroom and ways to get involved in the classroom and at the school.
