To give back tothe community, the team created the Green Bay PackersFoundation in December 1986. The Foundation assistsin a wide variety of activities and programs that benefiteducation, civic affairs, health services, human servicesand youth-related programs.Last year, in its annual distribution of funds, thefoundation awarded $205,000 to 78 civic and charitablegroups throughout the state of Wisconsin, Casey Cuene,chairman of the Foundation committee, announced Feb.21, 2011. With these disbursements, the Foundation hasdistributed more than $2.2 million for charitable purposessince it was established in 1986 by Judge RobertJ. Parins, then president of the Packers Corporation, “asa vehicle to assure continued contributions to charity.”The financial breakdown of the Foundation’s contributionsdiscloses that 35 grants — aggregating $120,000— were awarded to Brown County organizations.Additional grants, totaling $85,000, were made to 43other groups around the state.Under the Packers Scholarship Program, establishedin 2002, an additional $15,000 is being awarded —$7,500 to Scholarships, Inc., for distribution to studentsin four-year colleges and $7,500 to Northeast WisconsinTechnical College (NWTC) for distribution to studentsin two-year associate degree or apprenticeship tradesprograms.
