Community Outreach <strong>Mission</strong><br />

The <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> organization is dedicated to<br />

enriching the lives of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan<br />

residents by donating time and talents, along with<br />

providing diverse <strong>com</strong>munity outreach programs.<br />

Our programs are designed to assist non-profit<br />

organizations, mentor youth, encourage volunteerism<br />

and gain an awareness of the unique needs of our<br />

<strong>com</strong>munities. We are <strong>com</strong>mitted to taking an active<br />

role in leading by example to encourage, inspire<br />

and build unity within the <strong>com</strong>munities that have<br />

consistently supported us for more than 90 years.<br />

Recognition & Giving


Donations<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> are proud to support thousands of fundraising<br />

efforts across the state of Wisconsin. In 2012, more than<br />

10,500 requests were submitted for consideration. Donated<br />

items raised more than $3 million to assist with the costs of<br />

providing services to those in need. Separate cash donations<br />

to local non-profit organizations exceeded $5 million<br />

during this same time period.<br />

Those interested in requesting a donation to benefit a non-profit<br />

organization in Wisconsin must apply online at packers.<strong>com</strong>/<br />

<strong>com</strong>munity/donations.html. Applications submitted a minimum<br />

of six weeks in advance of the event will be considered.<br />

Community Quarterback Awards<br />

Since 2000, many of Wisconsin’s volunteers have been<br />

nominated and selected to receive the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong><br />

Community Quarterback Award. Ten more recipients were<br />

added to the list in 2012. With the support of Humana<br />

Inc., each recipient received a $4,000 grant in the name of<br />

the non-profit organization for which they volunteer their<br />

time. In addition, Humana provided each recipient two<br />

tickets to a game at Lambeau Field and two passes to the<br />

MVP tent. All recipients were recognized for their efforts<br />

during halftime, as well as during a luncheon held for them<br />

at Lambeau Field.<br />

Community Events Grants<br />

For nearly a decade, the <strong>Packers</strong> have awarded four<br />

grants annually to non-profit organizations located in<br />

Brown County that host events at Lambeau Field. This<br />

year’s chosen recipients were ASPIRO, Family Services<br />

of Northeast Wisconsin, P.E.O. Sisterhood – <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong><br />

Reciprocity and St. Vincent Hospital.<br />

Wish Granting<br />

Last season, the <strong>Packers</strong> were honored to grant the wishes<br />

of 16 children and young adults through the Make-A-Wish<br />

Foundation. During each visit, the guest of honor has the<br />

opportunity to tour Lambeau Field, watch practice, dine<br />

with the team and share some very special one-on-one time<br />

with their favorite players. The <strong>Packers</strong>’ players, coaches and<br />

staff work diligently to make certain each visit is a positive<br />

and memorable experience for their special guests.<br />

Military Support and <strong>NFL</strong> Charities<br />

National Partnership Fund Grant<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> remain <strong>com</strong>mitted to honoring the men<br />

and women of the United States military who have or<br />

are currently serving their country. In an effort to do so,<br />

the <strong>Packers</strong> send hundreds of military care packages and<br />

messages of support each year. In addition, and as the result<br />

of a grant from <strong>NFL</strong> Charities, the <strong>Packers</strong> were pleased<br />

to make a $5,000 donation to the Wisconsin Department<br />

of Veterans Affairs for its new Medal of Honor memorial.<br />

The grant was presented by several <strong>Packers</strong> alumni at an<br />

unveiling ceremony for the monument, located at the<br />

Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. This was the first major<br />

monument built in Wisconsin to honor the 62 Medal of<br />

Honor award recipients with Wisconsin ties.<br />

<strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> Foundation Grants<br />

The <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> Foundation awarded a record-setting $450,000 to 145 civic and charitable groups<br />

throughout the state of Wisconsin in its annual distribution of grants. Representatives from the groups were guests<br />

at a luncheon at Lambeau Field, where they were honored for their outstanding efforts and services.<br />

Non-profit organizations located in Wisconsin interested in applying for a grant can apply online March 1 to July 1 at packers.<strong>com</strong>/<strong>com</strong>munity/packers-foundation.html.


Education


Play 60 Challenge<br />

Ten Wisconsin schools participated in this season’s Play 60<br />

Challenge, a program that inspires students to be active<br />

for at least 60 minutes per day. Of the 2,620 middle school<br />

students who participated, 9.7 million active minutes were<br />

logged in a 28-day span, averaging 133 minutes per student,<br />

per day. Valders Middle School proved victorious in the<br />

challenge with a daily average of 188 minutes per student.<br />

Play 60 Back to Football Super School<br />

Danz Elementary School in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> was selected as<br />

an <strong>NFL</strong> Play 60 Super School. Along with the title, the<br />

school was given a $10,000 grant for health and wellness<br />

programming and equipment, and was treated to a special<br />

visit from linebacker A.J. Hawk.<br />

Scholarships<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> have forged an educational partnership with<br />

Scholarships Inc. and Northeast Wisconsin Technical<br />

College, funding several scholarships for students who<br />

are residents of Brown County and are entering fouryear<br />

colleges or two-year technical or apprenticeship<br />

trade programs. The scholarships are awarded based on<br />

<strong>com</strong>munity service, involvement in athletic activities,<br />

academic achievement and financial need.<br />

Internships<br />

In addition to the numerous full-time, part-time and<br />

seasonal personnel the <strong>Packers</strong> employ, there are several<br />

internships available throughout the organization.<br />

Departments such as accounting, athletic training,<br />

<strong>com</strong>munity outreach, fields, human resources, information<br />

technology, marketing, media group, public relations and<br />

ticketing provide young adults with valuable experience<br />

in their academic and professional careers.<br />

Fit Kids!<br />

Currently in its ninth year, the Fit Kids! program has been adopted by more than 320 public school districts<br />

across the state of Wisconsin, with 76% of eligible students benefitting from the curriculum.<br />

The program, presented by the <strong>Packers</strong> and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, is designed to improve children’s<br />

physical, mental and social health through the instruction of teachers, and has made a difference in the lives<br />

of thousands of students.


Community Events & Outreach


<strong>Packers</strong> Staff Collections<br />

Each quarter throughout the year, <strong>Packers</strong> employees<br />

adopted a non-profit organization in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>, for which<br />

they collected items of need. As a result of the staff’s<br />

generosity, House of Hope, Salvation Army Coats for Kids<br />

Program, Literacy <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> and the Northwest Technical<br />

College Career Closet all received boxes of contributions<br />

to assist them in serving others.<br />

American Red Cross Blood Drives<br />

and DKMS Bone Marrow Registry<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> partner with the American Red Cross<br />

several times each year to host blood drives for both staff<br />

and <strong>com</strong>munity members. Throughout the year, nearly<br />

750 units of blood were collected at Lambeau Field,<br />

impacting up to 2,250 patients in need of a donation.<br />

Attendees of the fall blood drive were also offered an<br />

opportunity to register as a bone marrow donor through<br />

DKMS, the largest bone marrow donor center in the world.<br />

Project LEAP!<br />

Project LEAP! is an event designed to get children and<br />

their families out of the house to participate in fun, physical<br />

activity in the midst of harsh Wisconsin winters. Among<br />

the activities offered at the event are inflatables, climbing<br />

walls, bungee trampolines, face painting and entertainment.<br />

65 Roses Celebrity Golf Tournament<br />

As part of a long-standing tradition in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>, Head<br />

Coach Mike McCarthy served as the honorary chairman<br />

for the 65 Roses Celebrity Golf Tournament. For nearly<br />

25 years, the organization has teamed up with Humana<br />

to raise more than $615,000 to fight cystic fibrosis.<br />

Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer<br />

Jerry Parins, former Director of Security for the <strong>Packers</strong>,<br />

hosts the annual Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer each<br />

summer. The motorcycle ride has raised $590,000 over the<br />

last nine years for various local cancer-related organizations.<br />

The ride was created by Parins a mere 16 months after he<br />

was diagnosed with cancer in 2003.<br />

Mike & Jessica McCarthy Golf Tournament<br />

Established in June 2010, the Mike and Jessica McCarthy<br />

Golf Tournament benefits the American Family Children’s<br />

Hospital in Madison, WI. In just three years, the event<br />

has raised an impressive net total of more than $500,000,<br />

with contributions and participation increasing each year.<br />

In 2012, the tournament raised more than $270,000 in<br />

net profit, with proceeds going to the hospital’s “Sick Kids<br />

Can’t Wait” campaign. The campaign is designed to meet<br />

the needs of sick children by further developing and<br />

improving the resources and facilities at the hospital.<br />

Training Camp<br />

Each summer, the <strong>Packers</strong> hold their annual training camp<br />

at Ray Nitschke Field. The newly renovated field, which<br />

seats 1,500 fans, holds more than 20 practices each year,<br />

with an estimated attendance of 100,000 fans throughout<br />

camp. Practices are viewed free of charge. The field is<br />

located directly across the street from Lambeau Field,<br />

which allows players the opportunity to keep alive the<br />

long-standing tradition of riding young fans’ bikes to<br />

practice, providing the kids a memory and a story to<br />

last a lifetime.<br />

Tailgate Tour<br />

Several players, alumni and staff departed in May on a five-day journey through Wisconsin for the organization’s annual Tailgate Tour. President/CEO<br />

Mark Murphy and players Mason Crosby and Jordy Nelson, as well as alumni players William Henderson, Larry McCarren and Marco Rivera made<br />

stops in La Crosse, Madison, Kenosha, Cedarburg/Grafton and Sturgeon <strong>Bay</strong>. In addition to impromptu stops, the group made nightly appearances<br />

at a tailgate party in each city, with all proceeds benefiting a designated non-profit organization. Since the tour’s inception seven years ago,<br />

30 organizations throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan have raised in excess of $825,000 for their work in the <strong>com</strong>munity.


Wel<strong>com</strong>e Back Luncheon<br />

Each year in the midst of training camp, the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong><br />

Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the Wel<strong>com</strong>e Back<br />

Luncheon. The event wel<strong>com</strong>es the players and coaches<br />

back to the area for the up<strong>com</strong>ing season, and serves<br />

as an opportunity for members of the <strong>com</strong>munity to<br />

interact with the team, as a player or coach is assigned<br />

to each table to mingle and dine with guests.<br />

Family Night<br />

During training camp, the <strong>Packers</strong> host Family Night,<br />

presented by Bellin Health, an event designed for fans to<br />

enjoy a practice with a game-like atmosphere at Lambeau<br />

Field. Annually, the team hosts and honors a local<br />

charity at the scrimmage that has made a difference in<br />

the lives of its fans. As a result, 1,000 Girl Scouts of the<br />

Northwestern Great Lakes members, staff and volunteers<br />

joined in the festivities and were recognized during<br />

the scrimmage.<br />

Ladies of Lambeau<br />

Ladies of Lambeau, a group <strong>com</strong>prised of female<br />

employees and board members, and wives or partners<br />

of employees, board members, players and coaches, work<br />

to undertake projects that will make a difference in the<br />

lives of people near and far. This year’s project involved<br />

making blankets for residents at area nursing homes.<br />

Approximately 150 volunteers created 200 blankets<br />

during the event. In addition, three volunteers were<br />

randomly selected and asked to designate their favorite<br />

Wisconsin charity to receive a $1,000 <strong>Packers</strong> grant.<br />

Brown County Children’s Charity<br />

Golf Classic<br />

On an annual basis, the <strong>Packers</strong> team up with Brown<br />

County to host the Children’s Charity Golf Classic,<br />

with proceeds from the 2012 event going to benefit the<br />

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Educational<br />

Foundation and the Brown County Human Services<br />

Department Pals Program. Through the support of<br />

<strong>Packers</strong> President/CEO Mark Murphy and other<br />

administrative staff who attended the event, $55,000<br />

was raised for the programs.<br />

<strong>Green</strong> and Gold Gala<br />

The 24th annual <strong>Green</strong> and Gold Gala was once again<br />

held at Lambeau Field in 2012. With the strong support<br />

of the <strong>Packers</strong> organization, crucial funds were raised for<br />

Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, an organization<br />

aimed at offering services to families in crisis and need.<br />

<strong>Packers</strong> Community Day<br />

A steady rain did not dampen the spirits of more than<br />

50 <strong>Packers</strong> employees who spent the day refurbishing<br />

the playground equipment in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>’s John Muir<br />

Park with the assistance of the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Parks<br />

Department. In addition to the park project, employees<br />

visited five area nursing facilities to visit with residents,<br />

take part in the afternoon’s activity and deliver fleece<br />

blankets made by the Ladies of Lambeau.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> Hometown Huddle<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong>, United Way and the City of Milwaukee<br />

teamed up in the fall to build a new playground at<br />

Smith Park in Milwaukee as part of the <strong>NFL</strong> Hometown<br />

Huddle project. Area school children were invited to<br />

visit the playground construction site as well as meet<br />

the <strong>Packers</strong> players who were helping with the project<br />

that day.<br />

Pro vs. G.I. Joe Program<br />

As part of the Pro vs. G.I. Joe program, several <strong>Packers</strong><br />

players connected with active Wisconsin National Guard<br />

members in a friendly battle of the video game “Call<br />

of Duty.” Soldiers who were stationed in Afghanistan,<br />

Kuwait and Qatar were able to <strong>com</strong>pete against the<br />

players via a video-conference setup on the Lambeau<br />

Field Atrium balcony. Families of the deployed soldiers<br />

were also invited to the <strong>com</strong>petition.<br />

Spooktacular Fun at Lambeau Field<br />

For two days each October, Lambeau Field is transformed<br />

for a celebration of all things Halloween. The 10th<br />

annual Spooktacular Fun event featured interactive<br />

entertainment, including magic, miming and hypnotism.<br />

In addition to the kids’ event, the <strong>Packers</strong> opened the<br />

doors to the Haunted Concourse, a spookhouse designed<br />

for area teens.


Ecumenical Thanksgiving Day Dinner<br />

For the 10th consecutive year, Lambeau Field wel<strong>com</strong>ed in local people in need looking to partake in fellowship and<br />

a freshly prepared Thanksgiving meal. Nearly 500 volunteers from the <strong>com</strong>munity gathered at Lambeau Field to serve<br />

a sit-down meal to approximately 900 guests. An additional 1,100 meals were delivered directly to the doors of those<br />

who were homebound.<br />

Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign<br />

<strong>Packers</strong> players and staff lent a hand to the Salvation Army during the holiday season. They could be seen and heard<br />

throughout the area ringing bells and signing autographs in an effort to raise funds for the organization and make<br />

a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.<br />

Families of Children with Cancer Holiday Party<br />

Nine <strong>Packers</strong> players teamed up with the Families of Children with Cancer group to make the holidays a bit brighter<br />

for young cancer patients and their families at the group’s annual holiday party. Guests enjoyed talking to the players<br />

and <strong>com</strong>peting in various games against them, and were thoroughly entertained as they all took to the stage to sing<br />

some classic holiday songs.<br />

Away Game Pep Rallies<br />

While the <strong>Packers</strong> travel across the nation to <strong>com</strong>pete in away games, the team’s alumni participate in pep rallies<br />

at various establishments in some of the cities in which the team is playing. These rallies help gather <strong>Packers</strong> fans<br />

from across the nation and build excitement for the team when they are playing away from home.


Youth Football


Youth Football on Lambeau Field<br />

For many years, the <strong>Packers</strong> have invited local youth<br />

football teams to run plays on the field during the <strong>Packers</strong><br />

Family Night scrimmage, as well as during halftime of a<br />

preseason game, as they are cheered on by the thousands<br />

of fans in attendance.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> Punt, Pass & Kick Competition<br />

Each year, the <strong>Packers</strong> host the annual Punt, Pass & Kick<br />

Competition prior to a game at Lambeau Field. Forty-one<br />

youngsters, ages 8-15, advanced from across the state for the<br />

opportunity to <strong>com</strong>pete for the title of <strong>Packers</strong> Punt, Pass<br />

& Kick Team Champion. Three participants scored high<br />

enough to place them in <strong>com</strong>petition at the Punt,<br />

Pass & Kick National Finals in Atlanta, and one took<br />

champion honors.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> High School Player Development Camp<br />

Presented by the Wisconsin National Guard, the <strong>NFL</strong><br />

High School Player Development (HSPD) Camp provides<br />

in<strong>com</strong>ing high school freshmen through seniors free<br />

training in character development and specific position<br />

football skills. In 2012, Wisconsin HSPD camps were held<br />

at three locations throughout the state. Thirty-six HSPD<br />

participants - 12 from each location - who displayed a<br />

<strong>com</strong>bination of hard work and sportsmanship were selected<br />

to an HSPD all-star team that <strong>com</strong>peted in the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong><br />

<strong>Packers</strong> 7-on-7 Regional Passing Tournament.<br />

<strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> 7-on-7<br />

Regional Passing Tournament<br />

In June, the <strong>Packers</strong> hosted their fourth annual 7-on-7<br />

Regional Passing Tournament. Eight teams <strong>com</strong>peted in<br />

a passing tournament at the Don Hutson Center for the<br />

chance to advance to the <strong>NFL</strong> 7-on-7 National Tournament<br />

as representatives of the <strong>Packers</strong>. Watertown High School<br />

defeated <strong>Bay</strong> Port High School to win the tournament.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> 7-on-7 National Passing Tournament<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong>, along with each of the other 31 <strong>NFL</strong> clubs,<br />

sent a team of high school athletes to represent them<br />

in the <strong>NFL</strong> 7-on-7 National Passing Tournament. The<br />

<strong>com</strong>petition was hosted by the Indianapolis Colts in July.<br />

The Watertown High School football team, the winners<br />

of the <strong>Packers</strong> Regional Passing Tournament, proudly<br />

represented the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> in the tournament.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> High School Player<br />

Development Leadership Program<br />

In July, the <strong>Packers</strong> hosted their first annual <strong>NFL</strong> High<br />

School Player Development Leadership Program for<br />

50 Wisconsin high school football athletes. The HSPD<br />

Leadership Program is a one-day event <strong>com</strong>prised of<br />

activities in three different areas – the classroom, the<br />

<strong>com</strong>munity and leadership, including intensive character<br />

development and life skills training.<br />

<strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> High School<br />

Football Coach of the Week Program<br />

Each week during the football season, the <strong>Packers</strong><br />

honor a Wisconsin high school football coach who<br />

demonstrates outstanding leadership on and off the field.<br />

Each winner receives $2,000 to be used for the school’s<br />

football program. One coach, named the <strong>Packers</strong> High<br />

School Football Coach of the Year, is given a $3,000<br />

donation for his football program and is recognized at<br />

Lambeau Field during one of the <strong>Packers</strong> final home games.<br />

USA Football State Forum<br />

The USA Football State Forum brings together youth<br />

football leaders from across the state of Wisconsin to discuss<br />

various topics impacting the sport. Wisconsin youth league<br />

<strong>com</strong>missioners gain insight on further strengthening player<br />

safety and best practices through USA Football’s Heads Up<br />

Football program, and have the opportunity to network<br />

with peers, USA Football representatives and <strong>NFL</strong> teams.<br />

USA Football Coaching School<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> work with USA Football to host a coaching<br />

school with the goal of developing and sharpening the<br />

approach to youth football in the state. The curriculum,<br />

aimed at youth football levels, focuses on the strategies<br />

of the game, as well as the life lessons that young players<br />

learn from the game. The event features multiple classroom<br />

sessions as well as drill demonstrations.<br />

<strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> Youth Football Outreach Camps<br />

The <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong> Youth Football Outreach Camp is a <strong>com</strong>plimentary program<br />

that features educational benefits as well as recreational opportunities for second<br />

through fifth grade students. In 2012, the <strong>Packers</strong> held 34 camps at elementary<br />

schools throughout Wisconsin and provided 4,200 students the opportunity<br />

to test their football skills in various drills and obstacle courses.


Gameday Activities


Operation Fan Mail<br />

At each home game throughout the season, the <strong>Packers</strong><br />

and WPS Health Insurance honor and host an active duty<br />

serviceman or woman and their family for their outstanding<br />

contributions by way of the Operation Fan Mail program.<br />

Since the program debuted in 2007, 56 families have been<br />

recognized and enjoyed a game at Lambeau Field.<br />

Midwest Shrine Game<br />

For more than 60 years, the <strong>Packers</strong> have designated one<br />

preseason game as the Midwest Shrine Game. At the game,<br />

the <strong>Packers</strong> present a donation to the Shrine Tripoli Temple,<br />

which operates Shriners Hospitals for Children. The total<br />

donated to the organization over the years currently stands<br />

in excess of $3.4 million.<br />

Bishop’s Charities Game<br />

Since 1961, the <strong>Packers</strong> have designated one preseason<br />

game as the Bishop’s Charities Game, with a donation being<br />

made to the Catholic Diocese of <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>. Approximately<br />

$3.7 million has been donated over the past 51 years.<br />

Coats for Kids Collection<br />

For the last 12 years, the <strong>Packers</strong> have hosted a Salvation<br />

Army Coats for Kids collection prior to a regular-season<br />

home game. In October, the team collected nearly $13,000<br />

and 450 coats from giving fans, record totals for collections<br />

at Lambeau Field, bringing the grand total to over 3,000<br />

coats since the partnership’s inception.<br />

Breast Cancer Awareness Month<br />

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in<br />

October, Lambeau Field, as well as the players themselves,<br />

was adorned in pink. Zeta Tau Alpha, in partnership<br />

with the <strong>NFL</strong>’s A Crucial Catch campaign, handed out<br />

<strong>com</strong>plimentary pink ribbons to fans attending the<br />

home game.<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> Salute to Service Game<br />

The <strong>NFL</strong> Salute to Service Game at Lambeau Field kicked<br />

off with a card stunt performed by the fans, honoring both<br />

veterans and current military. Throughout the game, several<br />

of Wisconsin’s most distinguished military members, as well<br />

as a local unit that had recently <strong>com</strong>pleted a tour of duty,<br />

were recognized. Fans also had the chance to salute soldiers<br />

currently serving overseas through a live, two-way video<br />

conference on the video boards.<br />

Holiday Mail for Heroes<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> teamed up with the American Red Cross to<br />

coordinate a Holiday Mail for Heroes drive at Lambeau<br />

Field on game day. The drive gave fans the opportunity<br />

to send a message of holiday cheer to one of the many<br />

service members who are currently serving or have served<br />

our country.<br />

DNC Sportservice Concession Stand Efforts<br />

Area non-profit groups volunteer their time and energy to<br />

staff concession stands for each and every home game. In<br />

turn, donations totaling over $750,000 were given to the<br />

Sargento Touchdowns for Charity Program<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> and Sargento again partnered for the<br />

Touchdowns for Charity program, with Sargento making<br />

a contribution to the program for each touchdown scored<br />

throughout the season. A total of $100,500 was raised,<br />

benefiting the Wisconsin Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee<br />

County and Paul’s Pantry in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>.<br />

Protection is the Name of the Game Campaign<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> partnered with Verizon Wireless to execute a<br />

campaign entitled Protection is the Name of the Game.<br />

The project focused on a season-long cell phone drive, with<br />

Verizon Wireless making a $10 donation to its HopeLine<br />

program for each used cell phone donated. The program<br />

benefits victims of domestic violence in Wisconsin and the<br />

Upper Peninsula of Michigan.<br />

First Downs for Trees<br />

As part of their <strong>Green</strong> Team initiative, the <strong>Packers</strong><br />

<strong>com</strong>pleted their third season of the eco-friendly First<br />

Downs for Trees program. With every first down the team<br />

gained, a contribution was made to the fund, resulting<br />

in the organization contributing a total of $16,000 to the<br />

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The program<br />

also received a $48,000 grant from the US Forest Service,<br />

resulting in a total of 852 new trees being planted.<br />

Toys for Tots<br />

The <strong>Packers</strong> and the U.S. Marine Corps worked together to host the yearly Toys for Tots<br />

collection at Lambeau Field prior to a game in December. Fans attending the game<br />

generously donated 1,700 toys and a record-breaking $26,000.

Appearances by Players and Coaches<br />

Members of the organization – players, coaches and staff -<br />

are <strong>com</strong>mitted to supporting the <strong>com</strong>munity. Throughout<br />

2012, the <strong>Packers</strong> were granted the opportunity to make<br />

nearly 700 appearances. Appearances included non-profit<br />

fundraisers, school visits, athletic banquets and many other<br />

events and programs.<br />

Those interested in scheduling an appearance with a member<br />

of the <strong>Packers</strong> can apply at packers.<strong>com</strong>/appearances.<br />

Applications submitted a minimum of eight weeks in<br />

advance of the event will be considered.<br />

Appearances by Alumni<br />

The season featured numerous home<strong>com</strong>ings at Lambeau<br />

Field. During home game weekends, the <strong>Packers</strong> and their<br />

fans wel<strong>com</strong>ed more than 50 alumni during their returns<br />

to the stadium. The visits provided fans a chance to fondly<br />

relive <strong>Packers</strong> history, as well as obtain autographs from<br />

some of their favorite former players.<br />

Players’ Foundations<br />

Many <strong>Packers</strong> players take their dedication to the<br />

<strong>com</strong>munity to another level by creating foundations<br />

to impact the lives of those around them.<br />

n Desmond Bishop, Linebacker<br />

The Desmond Bishop Fitness for Youth Foundation<br />

is focused on keeping kids active and healthy. More<br />

n Jarrett Bush, Cornerback<br />

The Jarrett Bush Foundation partners with the <strong>com</strong>munity<br />

to pay it forward to the youth of today by inspiring them<br />

to be active and motivated in order to achieve their<br />

educational and athletic goals, ensuring a successful future<br />

for tomorrow.<br />

n AJ Hawk, Linebacker<br />

Hawk’s Locks for Kids was established after Hawk cut<br />

the long hair he was known for, in order to raise money<br />

and collect donated hair for children who have lost<br />

theirs due to chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.<br />

n James Jones, Wide Receiver<br />

The Love Jones 4 Kids Foundation is an organization that<br />

focuses on fulfilling the needs of children in disadvantaged<br />

and underserved <strong>com</strong>munities in San Jose, CA, and <strong>Green</strong><br />

n Ryan Pickett, Defensive Tackle<br />

The Ryan Pickett Foundation’s mission is to act as God’s<br />

helping hand reaching out to various organizations or<br />

groups in desperate need that have been forgotten or left<br />

behind. Contributing to organizations specializing in foster<br />

care will be the main focus of the foundation in 2013.<br />

n Tramon Williams, Cornerback<br />

The 38 Reasons Foundation has <strong>com</strong>mitted its efforts to<br />

support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization<br />

in various ways, including the donation of $1,000 per<br />

interception or pass break-up by Tramon through his tenure<br />

with the <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Packers</strong>, beginning with the 2012 <strong>NFL</strong><br />

<strong>NFL</strong> Man of the Year Award<br />

Each season, the <strong>Packers</strong> nominate a player for the Walter<br />

Payton <strong>NFL</strong> Man of the Year Award. The honor recognizes<br />

<strong>NFL</strong> players for their <strong>com</strong>mitment to the <strong>com</strong>munity. The<br />

<strong>Packers</strong> nominee for 2012 was wide receiver James Jones.<br />

Jones was recognized for the positive impact he makes by<br />

way of his Love Jones 4 Kids Foundation, as well as his<br />

strong support of various other non-profit organizations.<br />

McCarthy Family Foundation<br />

Head Coach Mike McCarthy and his wife Jessica established the McCarthy Family Foundation with the intent of fostering a long-term philanthropic<br />

<strong>com</strong>mitment by his family beyond his <strong>NFL</strong> career. Throughout the past seven seasons, the foundation has made donations of more than<br />

$1.5 million to benefit numerous charities, projects and institutions, including American Family Children’s Hospital, Baker University,<br />

the Seven Loaves Project of <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>, the Autism Society of Northeast Wisconsin, the Boys & Girls Club of <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> and a group of organizations<br />

(St. Rosalia Academy, <strong>Green</strong>sburg Central Catholic, the <strong>Green</strong>field Baseball Association and the <strong>Green</strong>field Organization) in his native Pittsburgh.

Cancer Run/Walk<br />

Members of the PWA participated in the Making<br />

Strides Against Breast Cancer Awareness Run/Walk,<br />

with all proceeds going to benefit the American Cancer<br />

Society. Despite the rainy, chilly weather the participants<br />

encountered that day, the event raised in excess of $76,000<br />

overall. Since Making Strides began 20 years ago, breast<br />

cancer death rates have declined 32 percent.<br />

<strong>Packers</strong> Women’s Association: black & white logo<br />

Blankets for Little Patients<br />

Members of the PWA <strong>com</strong>mitted time and resources to a<br />

new project, aspiring to send <strong>com</strong>fort to the babies who are<br />

admitted to the St. Vincent Hospital Neonatal Intensive<br />

Care Unit in <strong>Green</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>. Following the unit’s specifications,<br />

the ladies created several dozen blankets to be given to the<br />

hospital’s youngest patients battling various illnesses.<br />

PWA Care for Kids Project<br />

The PWA continued its work on a program started in 2009,<br />

the PWA Care for Kids project, created to support pediatric<br />

patients at local hospitals. Over 1,000 arts and crafts<br />

projects, games and movies were donated to the hospitals<br />

for distribution to young patients during their extended and<br />

often overwhelming stays in the hospital.<br />

New Community Shelter Dinner Service<br />

In 2012, the PWA undertook a new project by offering<br />

their services to the New Community Shelter in <strong>Green</strong><br />

<strong>Bay</strong>. Members volunteered their time to serve dinner, as<br />

well as their homemade desserts, to the less fortunate who<br />

look to the facility for assistance and care. The shelter<br />

works in cooperation with others in the <strong>com</strong>munity to<br />

address homelessness and hopelessness through education,<br />

counseling, resources and in-house services.<br />

Paul’s Pantry Food Drive<br />

The PWA teamed up with United Healthcare for the 26th annual<br />

food drive for Paul’s Pantry. The drive was quite successful,<br />

netting more than 27,000 food items and<br />

$21,000 in the hours leading up to a <strong>Packers</strong> home game.
