Speaker ProfileDr. Ho received his BSc (Hons) degree from the University Of Malaya in 1968, and MSc and PhD fromthe University Of Bristol, England in 1969 and 1972 respectively. He was formally trained in Colloid andSurface Science, the forerunner of nanoscience, at the MSc programme in Bristol and his PhD thesiswas on the synthesis of polystyrene latex and their interaction with methyl cellulose. He has beenresearching on surface and colloidal behaviour of polymeric materials ever since.He started his career as a research officer at the Rubber Research Institute Malaysia in the earlyseventies before moving to the University Malaya in 1975. He was a former Head and professor of theDepartment of Chemistry. After his statutory retirement from the university, he spent three years as aR&D Director of a glove manufacturing <strong>com</strong>pany before returning to the academic world as the Deanand professor of a private university to establish a new Faculty of Applied Sciences and started twodegree programmes on Biotechnology and Materials Science. Dr. Ho has forty years’ experience as aresearcher out of which thirty-five years were spent in the universityenvironment. His research interests were on latex technology and dispersed systems of economicimportance to Malaysia in the early days. This has since shifted to materials science with emphasis ongreen materials, clean processes and technology, including AFM techniques in visualizing the surfacemorphology of thin latex films.Currently Dr. Ho is an Adjunct Professor of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). Dr. Ho is a Fellow ofthe Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and its Past-President. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciencesof Malaysia as well as a council member. He is also a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the RoyalSociety of Chemistry, Britain. He sits in the Council of the Pacific Polymer Federation and is a foundingmember of the Asian Oceania Green and Sustainable Chemistry Network.
