ATKIN STITT TATE (W'MINSTER IHOUSE NOTESATKIN.SO far this term the weather has dominated the house competitionand no activities have been possible at all. However, since the lastnotes appeared, we have seen the completion of the Senior Chess andSenior Rugby competitions and one Junior Rugby match. The Senior Rugby game against Tate was a very exciting and hardfoughtgame. At half time Atkin were leading by a penalty goal to nilbut soon after a Tate try made the scores level. As the match drew to aclose a draw seemed the most likely and the fairest result, but in thelast seconds of the game Tate scored a second try and thus won by6 points to 3. The House put up a good performance against a strongerand more experienced Westminster Senior team and lost a close matchby 11 points to nil.In the Junior Rugby game the house beat a bigger and strongerWestminster team by 14 points to 5. This was a very good win and ~hewhole team deserve congratulating but particularly outstanding wereMcKay, Birss and Williams. The remaining Junior matches when Atkinplay Tate and Westminster oppose Stitt will decide the final positions inthe Rugby competition. In view of the fact that the house contained 3 members of the schoolteam the Senior Chess results were very disappointing. Atkin beat Tateby 5 games to 2 but narrowly lost to both Stitt and Westminster by 4games to 3. So the Seniors finished in 3rd position and it now falls tothe Juniors to improve the position of the house in the Chess competition.Later this term the cross country and athletic sports will takeplace and it is to be hoped that all boys will give of their best in orderto maintain the early progress that Atkin has made.A.
