Remediation of former Radium Hill Company site Nelson Parade Hunters Hillenvironmental assessment• Adjacent residents and noise sensitive receivers would be notified of potential ProjectWorks and likely noise impacts at least two weeks prior to the commencement of works.SPA would discuss with residences the noise management measures and practices tobe implemented on-site and, where feasible, manage scheduling of works to addressspecific landowner concerns.• Project information would be displayed in the front yard of No. 11 Nelson Parade(Project Site office) detailing the project and relevant contact phone numbers.• A complaints handling procedure would be detailed in the consultation plan and wouldinclude a complaints procedure to register and provide timely response to any noise andvibration complaints received.14.4.2Noise management and mitigation during construction andremediationIn addition to the above noise and vibration management, the following measures would beimplemented during all Project Works:• A one page summary of required Project Works noise and vibration managementpractices would be provided to all staff and contractors and be included during siteinductions and tool-box talks.• Engines and construction plant would not be started and on-site activities would not beundertaken outside the specified Project Works hours. Non noise generating ProjectWorks would be undertaken at staging areas where they are not adjacent to residentialand commercial receivers.• Where feasible and reasonable, loading and unloading would be carried out at thegreatest possible distance away from residential receivers.• Plant and equipment would be operated efficiently and maintained regularly. Droppingmaterials from a height, either into or out of trucks, trays or bins would be avoided.• Noisy behaviour would be avoided on Project Works sites, such as shouting, radios andinappropriate vehicle use.Truck movement noise management measuresTo ensure that truck movements from the development on local and collector road do notadversely impact on residential receivers, the following management measures would beimplemented:• trucks from the development would not operate on local and collector roads duringschool pick-up and drop-off periods• potentially affected residents would be notified of truck movement details prior to thecommencement of each remediation phase.Page 162 2117124D-PR_6008 PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF
Remediation of former Radium Hill Company site Nelson Parade Hunters Hillenvironmental assessment14.4.3Monitoring and reportingThroughout the Project Works phases monitoring of airborne noise and/ or ground vibrationwould be undertaken:• at the start of each phase of work at nearest noise affected residences on NelsonParade to confirm and verify received noise impacts and ensure appropriate noisemanagement and mitigation measures are implemented• where vibration generating plant is operated within 20 m of nearest residences todetermine safe working distances for all plant to minimise potential for exceedence ofthe adopted structural and human disturbance vibration goals• at the commencement of any Project Works required outside of standard day time hoursfor the verification of noise and vibration impacts and to confirm requirement for noisemanagement and mitigation measures where the noise environment is sensitive whenthe background noise levels are low• in response to any justifiable adverse community response or complaint to noise orvibration from Project Works.All noise monitoring would be conducted in accordance with Australian Standard 1055.1-1997 Acoustics–Description and measurement of environmental noise – Part 1: Generalprocedures.
