The Adult Faith Formation Committee PresentsWednesday, November 21: Episode Three“The Ineffable Mystery of God – That Which Nothing Greater Can Be Thought”Moses asks God, “Who are you?” God replies, “I am who I am.” This week Fr. NowRevelation closes the story of Sacred Scripture by taking us into another glorious paradisefilled with life-giving rivers and healing trees. This “new creation” actually began with ourbaptism into Christ (Catechism 1999) and far surpasses the Eden of old. All of the longings ofthe prophets Isaiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah, and of the people through the ages find their fulfillment in these finalimages. The promise that God will be with his people is one of the most basic elements of ancient Jewish covenants, but nothing cancompare with how this promise will be fulfilled for us in the Heavenly Jerusalem. The faithful from among the seven churches inRevelation 2 and the conquering saints of every age are now welcomed into the rest and reward. Their heritage is in the Lordhimself (Revelation 21:7).Holding fast to the promises of God to give us a future and hope helps us bear our present difficulties. Revelation 22:15 lists thevices that could keep people out of this glorious reality, reinforcing the importance of moral preparedness and perseverance to theend. As Revelation closes, it offers a threefold appeal by the Spirit, the Bride and the one who hears this book, and finds themthirsting for God. Their united cry is “Come!” Our Lord’s reply shocks and delights the believer in Christ as he calls back to us,“Truly I am coming soon!” Stirred by his promise, we cry out with passion, “Come, Lord Jesus!”This is the final week of the Revelation study. If you have not already registered for our next study, James: Pearls for WiseLiving, forms are available through group facilitators or at the Parish Office. If you have any questions about the study, call Kelly Reznicek at 630-629-5954 or e-mail KellyRez@comcast.net.Catechism Corner“Scripture and Tradition never cease to teach and celebrate thisfundamental truth: ‘The world was made for the glory of God.’St. Bonaventure explains that God created all things ‘not toincrease his glory, but to show forth and to communicate it, forGod has no other reason for creation than his love and goodness.”(CCC, n. 293)YEAR OF FAITH PRAYERO God, as you sent your Holy Spiritupon the early Churchin the fiery tongues andthe mighty wind of Pentecost,so now we ask youto send that same Spirit upon usthat we may go forthto proclaim the Gospel of Christto every creature.Year of Faith: October 11, 2012—November 24, 2013November 18, 2012PAGE 5We humbly praythat you deepen your Trinitarian life within us;make us effective and holy witnessesof Jesus’ death and Resurrection;help us to live our Catholic faithwith such joy, conviction, and lovethat others will be drawnto the sacred mystery of your Churchand the powerful grace of the sacraments. We implore youto make us ministers of your Word,in speech and action, in truth and charity,in the mystery of Jesus’ cross, and the light of his resurrected glory.Amen.Diocesan webpage for Year of Faith:www.dioceseofjoliet.org/yearoffaith/
