Product focus – VMS2A revolutionary vacuum barrier line which opens up new possibilitiesin composite structural design. VMS2 reduces the risk of dry spots orincomplete wet out by drawing air and volatiles from the laminate, without drawing any resin into the vacuum line. The infusion networkcan be simplified, with a significant reduction in the number of vacuumconnectors required. VMS2 reduces the risk of rework and eliminatesresin waste, as well as optimising process control and part quality.Vacuum breach units and wide sealant tape to close the ends of thelines are also available, and VMS2 can be customised or supplied in kitform for specific applications.Release filmUmeco’s release film products have beenspecially formulated to suit a variety of individualcomposite process applications. Our in-houseperforation capability allows us to tightly controla variety of perforations including traditionalpin-prick, hot needle and punched, in acomprehensive range of patterns. Releasefilm can also be slit to width, cut to shapeand welded into complex 3D shapes.Product ref Max temp Colour Film Thickness WidthB2000 100°CClear/printedPP 15, 25μm 1.25mA2200 120°C Orange/ PE 25μm 1.45mA2000 150°C RedBlendedpolymerE4760 205°C Blue/clear PMP 38, 51μmA6200/A6000A5000 260°C232°C Blue/red ETFERed/clear/violetFEP30, 50μm 1.52m12, 15,20, 25μm25, 50μm1.37, 1.52,1.83m1.30,1.52m1.22,1.52mMR-FILM 315°C Red/beige PTFE 25, 50μm 1.22mSFTSHRINKTITE TAPESurface finishing tape, for use on mandrel wound compositesHigh shrink modified polyester tape, 32mm and 64mmwide rolls, 20% shrinkage at 150°CPeel plyLight to heavyweight woven fabrics available inboth nylon and polyester. Operator motionis reduced due to assembly-line stock and storage, and there is lessmargin for error as the vacuum bagging process is de-skilled.Other benefits include increased productivity, standardised workingleading to better quality laminates, and health and safety benefitsthrough reduced materials handling.Umeco process materials offers three levels of kit:• Basic kits – material slit to defined widths, mostsuited to simple, high volume, or large shapes.• Intermediate kits – packs of cut shapes groupedtogether and stored by product group.• Full kits – 3D shaped combination products andall the parts for a particular composite structure. As well as a comprehensive kitting service, we also offer welded vacuumbags (WVBs) and reusable vacuum bags (RVBs) made from rubber anddesigned to withstand up to 100 cures. We enjoy long-standing relationships with global OEMs, and havedeveloped practical working solutions that have reduced waste, benefitted the environment, and importantly, increased productivityfor all of our customers.

Whilst exhibiting excellent tack and high elongation, extensive testing against industry standard brands has shown UCS180 requires significantlyless force to strip away from various tooling surfaces over a range of different cure/heat cycles(particularly beneficial following high temperature and pressure oven and autoclave cures). With easy release characteristics, UCS180 also leaves significantly less residue on wellused tooling surfaces, extending the timeframe before operators need to perform cleaningand tooling maintenance.

AEROFIX 3 has high adhesion strength with gelcoat, barrier-coat, glassfibre matting and fibreglass laminates, and does not compromise the mechanical performanceof laminates – even if used in higher quantities than required.Unlike other industry standard products, AEROFIX 3 does not compromise or inhibit polymerisationof resin systems, and neither does it weaken the degree of interlaminar adhesion between thedifferent layers of the laminate. The blue colourant makes it possible to assess and regulate thequantity of AEROFIX 3 applied, with the colour disappearing during polymerisation.Fittings and hosesHoses and fittings can be manufactured toour customers’ specifications.
