drinksOPERATIONWater passes through a cylinder containing ionexchange resin beads. The hardness salts -calcium and magnesium ions - are attracted tothe resin and removed from the water supply.The resin is automatically cleaned or“regenerated” by rinsing a small amount ofbrine through the cylinder. The accumulatedhardness does not enter the water supply, butis automatically flushed away to a nearbydrain. Refreshed by regeneration, the resin isagain ready to remove hardness minerals.REGENERATIONThe frequency of regeneration depends on thehardness and volume of water being used. Ittakes place automatically, and is initiated inone of the following ways:TIMER CONTROLLEDThe frequency is set by pushing in the pinson the skipper wheel. The teamregularly carry out filter exchanges and servicework throughout the UK and maintain a clientdatabase that includes the scheduling ofmaintenance visits.Water hardness can vary significantly evenwithin a local area. European WaterCareprovides a free water testing service toestablish the actual hardness of water at eachsite. This ensures that regeneration, serviceand exchange intervals are scheduledappropriately.WARRANTIESEuropean WaterCare softeners are suppliedwith a 2 year labour warranty and fullmanufacturers parts warranty, subject toservicing requirements being met.SIMPLEX SOFTENER CONFIGURATIONCOMMANDER CONTROLRegeneration still typically takes place at 2am.This unit measures the daily water useageand statistically averages the last 7 daysconsumption - ignoring very low or zero wateruseage. The computer will determine if thesoftener has sufficient remaining capacity tosupply the next days needs. If not it will initiatea regeneration. As water consumptionchanges the computer compensates andregenerates accordingly.DUPLEX METER CONTROLLEDThe system comprises of two cylinders and acontrol valve. The softening capacity of eachvessel is entered into the control valve andregeneration is initiated once the first cylinderis exhausted. The second cylinder will thencome into service whilst the first cylinderregenerates. When the second cylinderexhausts the first cylinder comes back on line,thus ensuring a continuous supply of softenedwater.
