RULES FIS WORLD CUP SKI JUMPING MEN 2011-2012
Legend: WCJ-M = FIS World Cup Ski Jumping (including Ski Flying)
COCJ-M = FIS Continental Cup Ski Jumping
GPJ-M = FIS Grand Prix Ski Jumping
1. Calendar Planning, Entry and Appointment of the Competitions
1.1 FIS World Cup Ski Jumping
1.1.1 Each National Ski Association is entitled to apply to the Sub-Committee for
Calendar Planning for WCJ competitions (individual and team competition) by
the pre-established deadline.
1.1.2 The application has to be made five years in advance and on the official FIS
entry form. The application form must show the expiration date of the hill certificate.
1.1.3 If the competitions are carried out at different sites, the dates must be fixed so
that there is an interval of at least one day for training between the competition
dates.
1.1.4 The last WCJ event in this competition season is the WCJ final.
In connection with the WCJ final the overall WCJ prize-giving ceremony will
take place.
1.2 Appointment of the WCJ-Events
1.2.1 The Sub-Committee Calendar Planning examines:
- the suitability of the hill in question for WCJ-competitions by means of the
valid hill certificate
- the suitability of the organisers in question for WCJ-competitions by means
of a selection criteria which includes, among other things, the guaranteed
availability of an international TV-signal – suitable for live transmissions - for
the entire duration of the competition.
1.2.2 According to the result of this evaluation and the proposed dates the Sub-
Committee Calendar Planning establishes a provisional WCJ-competition
schedule for the upcoming five years. The final WCJ-competition calendar for
each season requires the approval of the FIS Council.
1.3 Date Protection
1.3.1 Only one WCJ-event can take place on the same date.
1.3.2 The International Championships (OWG + WSC) and one other weekend provided
in advance for are protected as to their dates, which mean that no WCJcompetitions
can take place.

1.4 Cancellations
In the events that the selected competition site cannot be used, the respective
National Ski Association must cancel the event(s) and this must be done at the
latest eight (8) days before the competition.
1.5 Waxing Cabins
The Organising Committee is obliged to put necessary waxing and preparation
cabins at disposal without any additional costs for the user.
2. Participation Right in WCJ Competitions
2.1 Only competitors with a FIS-Code are allowed to be entered.
2.2 Allowed to start are:
a) Competitors, who are already 15 years old;
b) Competitors, who have already gained GP or WCJ-points;
c) Competitors, who have gained at least one COCJ-M point of the past or of
the current season.
is to count for the WCJ evaluation.
3.1.3 World Cup Standing
The WCJ points of all individual competitions of the current season will be
counted for the WCJ overall winner.
If two or more competitors have the same number of points at the final evaluation,
the order will be determined according to the highest number of individual
victories resp. according to the successive ranks in FIS World Cup events.
If the competitors are still equal, the starting order will be drawn.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 2 -

3.1.4 The current leader of the WCJ overall evaluation receives the "WSC Leader
bib", which he is allowed to keep. The "WSC Leader bib" has to be worn by the
leader at the WCJ-event, at the official winner's ceremony and at all official
training.
3.2 Team and Mixed Team Competitions
1 st place = 400 points 5 th place = 200 points
2 nd place = 350 points 6 th place = 150 points
3 rd place = 300 points 7 th place = 100 points
4 th place = 250 points 8 th place = 50 points
3.2.1 In case of equality of points of teams, each team obtains the points corresponding
to the rank. The following place is omitted.
3.2.2 At least eight National Ski Associations must participate if a WCJ team competition
is to count for the WCJ Nations' Cup.
3.2.3 Starting order in team competitions
The starting order will be based on the reverse order of the actual World Cup
Nations’ standings. Due to organizational reasons the result of an individual
competition carried out on the same day may not be considered for the starting
order.
3.2.3.1 In the second round, only the leading eight (8) nations from the first round are
entitled to start. Before the start of the last group in the final round, there will be
an info break, where the start order for the last group will be sorted into reverse
order of the current standing.
3.2.4 WCJ Nation Cup
The sum of the points of all competitors from one nation of all WCJ competitions
(Men) of the current season – including the points of the team and share
of Mixed team competitions – will be taken into consideration for the WCJ evaluation
per nation.
In case of an equality of points in the WCJ nations’ evaluation, the better ranking
order of the different competitions (individual as well as team competitions)
will decide.
4. WCJ-Competitions
4.1 Number of Participants for the National Ski Associations
The number of participants will be calculated periodically according to:
- the World Ranking List (see art.4.1.1)
- the standings of the actual Continental Cup-Men period.
The basis for the calculation is:
- the top 55 competitors in the World Ranking List (with a maximum of 6 athletes
per nation)
- the top three (3) of the COCJ-M period.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 3 -

However, a nations' quota is limited to a maximum of 7 athletes per nation.
- Apart from the nations’ quota (according to the ranking list), each nation which
has gained at least one (1) individual- or team competition point during the past
or the current competition season shall have a basic quota of one plus two
(1+2) for at least 2 x 6 periods. This is therefore also valid for points obtained
from the SGP.
4.1.1 FIS World Ranking List
The quota calculation as well as the payment of the travel expenses will be
done according to the World Ranking List which is established according to the
following criteria:
- The points system is the same as for the World Cup ranking (1st rank 100
points, 30th rank 1 point).
- The competition results of the 5 periods of the past World Cup season will
gradually be replaced by the competition results of the 5 periods of the current
World Cup season.
- This updating procedure is repeated after each of the periods, so that the 5
most current periods are used to calculate the World Ranking List.
- In addition, the competition results of the SGP will be considered for the calculation
of the nations quota.
- The top 55 competitors of this World Ranking List will be taken into consideration
for the quota.
- The nations' quota is valid for the entire period that follows and is not affected
by actual competition results.
4.1.2 Division into periods
The FIS Grand Prix and FIS World Cup calendar 2011-2012 is divided into the
following six (6) periods. Geographical and organisational aspects have been
considered.
1. Period: 16.07.2011 - 03.10.2011 (Wisla - Klingenthal)
2. Period: 29.11.2011 - 18.12.2011 (Kuusamo - Engelberg)
3. Period: 30.12.2011 - 06.01.2012 (Oberstdorf – Bischofshofen)
4. Period: 14.01.2012 - 28.01.2012 (Tauplitz-Bad M. - Sapporo)
5. Period: 04.02.2012 - 19.02.2012 (Val di Fiemme - Oberstdorf)
6. Period: 03.03.2012 - 18.03.2012 (Lahti - Planica)
4.1.3. Starting quota in the official training
Each National Ski Association is allowed to enter the number of athletes according
to their nations quota, but no more than seven (7) as a maximum.
Nations with quota one and two are allowed to enter a number of two (2) athletes
in addition. Nations with quota three are allowed to enter one (1) athlete in
addition.
Nations without a quota at all or with a basis quota (see art. 4.1) are allowed to
enter up to two (2) athletes as a maximum.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 4 -

The National Ski Association of the organizing country has the right to enter an
additional National Group (group I) up to a maximum of six (6) athletes for the
official training and the qualification round.
However, if an event program includes a team competition, the participating nations
are allowed to enter up to a number of four (4) athletes as a maximum for
the individual competition as well.
The maximum starting quota of the National Ski Association of the organizing
country is therefore 13 athletes for the official training and the qualification
round, and all other participating nations may enter up to a maximum quota of
seven (7) athletes.
If more than two (2) WCJ-competitions are planned to be carried out in one
country, the hosting National Ski Association is only entitled to enter a National
Group in a maximum of 2 events (valid only for WCJ). For the SGP-series this
right is reduced to one competition.
4.1.4 Starting quota in the competition
A qualification round reduces the number of competitors to 50, resp. to 40 at
Ski Flying events.
4.2 Competition Mode and Starting Order
4.2.1 WCJ-competitions
As a rule, a jumping competition consists of:
- the official training
- a qualification and/or
- a trial round
- two scored rounds.
4.2.1.1 For the official training, the qualification and the first scored competition round
the competitors will be divided into three groups.
The number sequence of the groups is as follows:
- Group I of the organising country
- Group II (athletes without WCJ points)
- Group III (athletes with WCJ points).
4.2.1.2 The starting order within the group will be determined as follows:
- Group I: draw or seeding through the organising country
- Group II: draw
- Group III: reverse order of the actual WCJ standings. For the first WCJ
competition of the season, the final WCJ standings of the past
season is decisive. For the first WC competition in Ski Flying
the final standings of the Ski Flying World Cup standings of the
past season is decisive. As soon as athletes appear in the
World Cup Standings (at Ski Flying individual competitions according
to the World Cup standings for Ski Flying), they are
seeded in group III according to their ranking.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 5 -

After the formation of the Seeded Group I and II, the Jury can make the draw
before the official training. The team captains must confirm the draw at the next
team captains’ meeting.
In case of only one official training for two competitions carried out on the same
hill (individual and team competitions or two individual competitions), only the
single quota is allowed to start.
The competition schedule has to be published together with the invitation for the
competition. Changes can be made by the Jury in case of „force majeure“.
4.2.1.3 Qualification round
4.2.1.3.1 Qualification Ski Jumping
The qualification round reduces the number of participants to 50.
All jumpers, except the present top 10 in the current WCJ standings, must participate
in the qualification round. The total score counts for the result.
A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the 50.
4.2.1.3.2 Qualification Ski Flying
The qualification round reduces the number of participants to 40. All jumpers,
except the present top 10 in the current WCJ standings, must participate in the
qualification round. The total score counts for the result.
If the host nation has not at least four athletes or more within these 40, it is entitled
to enter up to four in addition for the first competition round.
A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the 40.
4.2.1.4 In extreme cases (for example limited training jumps, change of the in-run, lack
of time, difficult weather conditions) the Jury can decide on a qualification round
or a trial round.
4.2.1.5 In the qualification round, the Jury is entitled to change the starting gate for the
pre-qualified jumpers (present top 10 jumpers of the current WCJ-standings), in
order to get the optimal in-run speed for the first competition round or to break
off.
4.2.1.6 Trial round
If the qualification round is not held at all or not held on the competition day, a
trial round must be carried out before the first scored round (exception see ICR
art. 452.2.2)
4.2.1.7 For the first competitive round, only 50 [resp. 40 in Ski Flying] jumpers (the present
top 10 in the current WCJ standings and the top 40 [resp. 30 in Ski Flying]
of the qualification round) are admitted. In case of a tie at the last qualified
place in the qualification round, the total number of participants will increase
accordingly. The total number of participants will be filled up to 50 [resp. 40 in
Ski Flying], (plus tied jumpers at the last qualified place or/and jumpers who
have reached 95 % of the maximum length but had a fall, according to art.
4.2.1.3)
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 6 -

4.2.1.8 For the second competitive round (final), only the top 30 of the first competition
round are qualified (plus jumpers tied at the last qualified place). They start with
the same start number but in reverse order of the collective points score from
the first competitive round.
4.2.1.9 A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the 30.
4.2.1.10 The final round must start 15 minutes after the end of the first competition
round. The jumpers who are not at the start on time are disqualified.
4.2.1.11 After the qualification round of jumps is completed, the Jury is authorized to allow
competitors who are not qualified to serve as fore jumpers for the competition,
if necessary.
4.2.2 KO System
The Jumping Committee is entitled to modify the above mentioned rules for the
qualification and competition rounds.
Based on a decision of the FIS Jumping Committee and with the approval of
the FIS Council with the new modus, the number of participants in the first
competition round will be reduced to the half (25 participants) for the final round
by a comparison of performance in pairs (KO system) and filled up to a total of
30 participants with the five athletes (best loser) who have reached the best total
score points.
4.2.2.1 The qualification round will be carried out in the same way as up to now, with
one exception that the score (the total score points achieved) is not only decisive
for the participation in the first competitive round but also for the starting
order. The qualification round must in any case be carried out the day before. If
this is not guaranteed, the KO modus cannot be used.
4.2.2.2 The first competition round is contested by 25 pairs of jumpers so that
exactly 50 athletes have to be selected in the qualification round. It is therefore
not possible to increase this number in case of several competitors in equal last
places or maximum distance with a too low total score because of a fall. In order
to respect fairness and to ensure a clear decision, the following rules are to
be observed:
4.2.2.2.1 In the qualification round all jumps should be executed with same length of the
in-run. In exceptional cases the Jury is entitled to change the in-run gate or to
break off for the qualified jumpers.
4.2.2.2.2 The results of the fixed qualified jumpers must be integrated in the results of the
qualification round.
4.2.2.2.3 In case of a very bad jump (i.e. fall) and therefore a ranking which would be below
the qualification limit, a fixed qualified jumper will be listed in the last position
(see also 4.2.2.3).
4.2.2.2.4 If two or more jumpers obtain the same total score in the Qualification round,
the athlete with the higher start number will be ranked in the better position (see
ICR art. 433.4).
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 7 -

4.2.2.3 Based on these rules, the following system is in place for the ranking of the
qualification round:
Based on the total scores achieved, firstly a normal ranking from positions 1 to
50 is to be established. Those fixed qualified jumpers who did not participate in
the qualification round will be ranked in the last places until 50th position in the
order of their start numbers (see ICR art. 433.4).
If in addition fixed qualified jumpers have obtained a position below the qualification
limit, those jumpers will be ranked in the places directly before them within
the limit. Therefore those jumpers are to be eliminated, who had to qualify
but only achieved these last positions with their total score.
4.2.2.4 For the fist competition round the pairs of jumpers are to be established as follows:
Ranking in the Start order in the
qualification round = first scoring round
will be the start number
Ranking 01 50
Ranking 02 48
Ranking 03 46
etc. etc.
Ranking 23 06
Ranking 24 04
Ranking 25 02
Ranking 26 01
Ranking 27 03
Ranking 28 05
etc. etc.
Ranking 48 45
Ranking 49 47
Ranking 50 49
4.2.2.5 The pairs will start in the following order:
Start no. 26 against start no. 25 as 1 st pair
Start no. 27 against start no. 24 as 2 nd pair
etc. etc. etc.
Start no. 49 against start no. 02 as 24 th pair
Start no. 50 against start no. 01 as 25 th pair
4.2.2.6 As a result of the comparison in pairs the jumper with the better total scoring
reaches the final round. If the two jumpers competing against each other
achieve the same total score, the jumper with the lower start number will advance.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 8 -

4.2.2.7 Those 25 athletes will participate in the final round who have qualified for the
final in the KO elimination. In addition there are the five losing jumpers which
have the best total scores. In exceptional cases of a lower number of winners,
the number of losing jumpers will be increased. The number of participants for
the second round can also be increased through tied jumpers on the last qualified
place or/and jumpers who have reached 95 % of the longest jump (art.
4.2.1.3) but had a fall.
4.2.2.8 The starting order in the final round results from the reverse ranking order of
the total scores in the first scoring round.
In case of equal total scores the jumper with the higher starting number will
jump first.
The overall score of the competition is determined by the total scores from both
competitive rounds, i.e. the sum of both total scores.
4.2.3 Ski Flying competitions
The WCJ-events in Ski Flying have to be carried out according to the World
Cup rules for Ski Jumping as well as according to ICR art. 454.
4.2.4 If the final of the World Cup is carried out as a Ski Flying event, only the present
top 30 ranked competitors of the current World Cup standings may start at
the last individual competition day. If the host nation has less than four athletes
within these 30, it is entitled to enter up to four in addition.
4.3 In order to guarantee that actual and appropriate information on the Jury's decisions
regarding the competition is given to the media- and TV representatives
as well as to spectators at the jumping hill, the Jury has the duty to forward corresponding
information to the media representatives and the announcer. The
Race Director of the FIS is commissioned with this task.
4.4 For all WCJ competitions, the use of video-distance-measuring according to the
special regulations established by the FIS Jumping Committee is mandatory.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Men 2011-2012 - 9 -

RULES FIS WORLD CUP SKI JUMPING Ladies 2011-2012
Legend: WCJ-L = FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Ladies
COCJ-L = FIS Continental Cup Ski Jumping Ladies
GPJ-L = FIS Grand Prix Ski Jumping Ladies
1. Calendar Planning, Entry and Appointment of the Competitions
1.1 FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Ladies
1.1.1 Each National Ski Association is entitled to apply to the Sub-Committee for
Calendar Planning for WCJ-L competitions (individual and team competition) by
the pre-established deadline.
1.1.2 The application has to be made one and a half year in advance and on the official
FIS entry form. The application form must show the expiration date of the
hill certificate.
1.1.3 If the competitions are carried out at different sites, the dates must be fixed so
that there is an interval of at least one day for training between the competition
dates.
1.1.4 The last WCJ-L event in this competition season is the WCJ-L final.
In connection with the WCJ-L final the overall WCJ-L prize-giving ceremony will
take place.
1.2 Appointment of the WCJ-L-Events
1.2.1 The Sub-Committee Calendar Planning examines:
- the suitability of the hill in question for WCJ-L-competitions by means of the
valid hill certificate;
- the accommodation capacity and the spectator appeal of the competition
site;
- the suitability of the organisers in question for WCJ-L-competitions by means
of a selection criteria which includes, among other things, the guaranteed
availability of an international TV-signal – suitable for live transmissions - for
the entire duration of the competition.
- maximum hill size being used for WCJ-L competitions is Normal Hill size.
1.2.2 According to the result of this evaluation and the proposed dates the Sub-
Committee Calendar Planning establishes a provisional WCJ-L-competition
schedule for the upcoming years. The final WCJ-L-competition calendar for
each season requires the approval of the FIS Council.
1.3 Date Protection
1.3.1 Only one WCJ-L-event can take place on the same date.
1.3.2 The International Championships (OWG + WSC) and one other weekend provided
in advance for are protected as to their dates, which mean that no WCJ-
L-competitions can take place.

2. Participation Right in WCJ-L Competitions
2.1 Only competitors with a FIS-Code are allowed to be entered.
2.2 Allowed to start are:
a) Competitors, who are already 15 years old;
b) Competitors, who have already gained GP-L or WCJ-L-points;
c) Competitors, who have gained at least one COCJ-L point of the past or of
the current season.
2.3 Each National Ski Association can enter, for a WCJ-L event, a maximum of 6
(six) jumpers.
2.4 Each National Ski Association has full responsibility for the qualification of its
competitors for WCJ-L competitions and for their ability to handle the jumping
hill being used.
2.5 The host nation has the right to enter an additional National Group of 6 (six)
athletes (group I).
2.6 If more than two (2) WCJ-L-competitions are planned to be carried out in one
country, the host nation is only entitled to enter a National Group in a maximum
of two (2) events per series (GP-L, WCJ-L), however, all in all not more than
3.1.1 In case of equality in points between competitors, each athlete receives the
points corresponding to the rank (the following place is omitted).
3.1.2 A minimum of eight National Ski Associations must participate if a WCJ-L competition
is to count for the WCJ-L evaluation.
3.1.3 World Cup Standing
The WCJ-L points of all individual competitions of the current season will be
counted for the WCJ-L overall winner.
If two or more competitors have the same number of points at the final evaluation,
the order will be determined according to the highest number of individual
victories resp. according to the successive ranks in FIS World Cup events.
If the competitors are still equal, the starting order will be drawn.
3.1.4 The current leader of the WCJ-L overall evaluation receives the "WSC Leader
bib", which he is allowed to keep. The "WSC Leader bib" has to be worn by the
leader at the WCJ-L-event, at the official winner's ceremony and at all official
training.
3.2 Team and Mixed Team Competitions
1 st place = 400 points 5 th place = 200 points
(Ladies) of the current season – including the points of the team and
share of Mixed team competitions – will be taken into consideration for the
WCJ evaluation per nation.
In case of an equality of points in the WCJ nations’ evaluation, the better ranking
order of the different competitions (individual as well as team competitions)
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Ladies 2011-2012 - 3 -

4. Competition Mode and Starting Order
4.1 WCJ-L-competitions
As a rule, a jumping competition consists of:
- the official training
- a qualification and/or
- a trial round
- two scored rounds.
4.1.1 For the official training, the qualification and the first scored competition round
the competitors will be divided into three groups.
The number sequence of the groups is as follows:
- Group I of the organising country
- Group II (athletes without WCJ points)
- Group III (athletes with WCJ points).
4.1.2 The starting order within the group will be determined as follows:
- Group I: draw or seeding through the organising country
- Group II: draw
- Group III: reverse order of the actual WCJ standings. For the first WCJ
competition of the season 2011-12, the current standings of the
COC-L is decisive. As soon as athletes appear in the World
Cup Standings, they are seeded in group III according to their
ranking.
4.2 Qualification round
The qualification round reduces the number of participants to 50.
All jumpers, except the present top 10 in the current WCJ-L standings, must
participate in the qualification round. The total score counts for the result.
A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the 50.
11.11.2011 Rules FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Ladies 2011-2012 - 4 -

4.2.1 In extreme cases (for example limited training jumps, change of the in-run, lack
of time, difficult weather conditions) the Jury can decide on a qualification round
or a trial round.
4.2.2 In the qualification round, the Jury is entitled to change the starting gate for the
pre-qualified jumpers (present top 10 jumpers of the current WCJ-standings), in
order to get the optimal in-run speed for the first competition round or to break
off.
4.2.3 Trial round
If the qualification round is not held at all or not held on the competition day, a
trial round must be carried out before the first scored round (exception see ICR
art. 452.2.2)
4.2.4 For the first competitive round, only 50 jumpers (the present top 10 in the current
WCJ-L standings and the top 40 of the qualification round) are admitted. In
case of a tie at the last qualified place in the qualification round, the total number
of participants will increase accordingly. The total number of participants will
be filled up to 50, (plus tied jumpers at the last qualified place or/and jumpers
who have reached 95 % of the maximum length but had a fall, according to art.
4.2.)
4.2.5 For the second competitive round (final), only the top 30 of the first competition
round are qualified (plus jumpers tied at the last qualified place). They start with
the same start number but in reverse order of the collective points score from
the first competitive round.
4.2.6 A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the 30.
4.2.7 The final round must start 15 minutes after the end of the first competition
round. The jumpers who are not at the start on time are disqualified.
4.2.8 After the qualification round of jumps is completed, the Jury is authorized to allow
competitors who are not qualified to serve as fore jumpers for the competition,
if necessary.
4.4 For all WCJ-L competitions, the use of video-distance-measuring according to
the special regulations established by the FIS Jumping Committee is mandatory.
RULES FIS CONTINENTAL CUP SKI JUMPING (MEN) 2011-2012
Legend: COCJ-M = Continental Cup Ski Jumping (Men)
1. Calendar Planning as well as Entry and Appointment of the Competitions
1.1 Continental Cup Ski Jumping
1.1.1 Each National Ski Association is entitled to apply to the Sub-Committee for
Calendar Planning for COCJ-M competitions (individual competition) by the preestablished
deadline.
1.1.2 The application has to be made two years in advance and on the official FIS
entry form.
1.1.3 Only one COCJ-M competitions can be carried out on the same date.
1.1.4 The last COCJ-M event in a competition season is carried out as the COCJ-Mfinal.
In connection with the COCJ-M final the overall COCJ-M prize-giving
ceremony will take place.
1.2 Appointment of the COCJ-M-events
1.2.1 The Sub-Committee for Calendar Planning examines the:
- suitability of the hill in question for COCJ-M-competitions by means of the
valid hill certificate;
- accomodation capacity and the spectator appeal of the competition site;
- standard of the race organisation.
1.2.2 According to the result of this evaluation and the proposed dates the Sub-
Committee for Calendar Planning establishes a provisional COCJ-Mcompetition
schedule for the upcoming two years. The final COCJ-Mcompetition
calendar for the current season requires the approval of the FIS
Council.
2. Participation Right for COCJ-M Competitions
2.1 Only competitors with a FIS-Code are allowed to be entered.
Each National Ski Association has full responsibility for the qualification of its
competitors for COCJ-M competitions and for their ability to handle the jumping
hills being used.
2.2 Allowed to start are:
a) Competitors, who have already gained WC-, GP- or COCJ-M-points;
b) Competitors, who have gained at least one FIS Cup point of the past or of
the current season.

2.3 Number of Participants for the National Ski Associations
The number of participants will be calculated periodically according to the
Continental Ranking List (CRL), see art. 2.3
The basis for the calculation is:
- the top 50 competitors of the CRL;
- each nation with less than four athletes in the nations quota or without
nations quota is entitled to enter up to four athletes as a maximum;
- the host nation has the right to enter an additional National Group of eight (8)
athletes (group I);
- the maximum starting quota of the host nation can therefore be 16, however,
all other participating nations up to a maximum quota of eight (8) athletes.
- If more than two (2) COCJ-M-competitions are planned to be carried out in
one country, the host nation is only entitled to enter a National Group in a
maximum of 2 events per serie (summer or winter COCJ-M-serie), however,
all in all not more than four (4) times.
2.4 Continental Ranking List
The quota calculation will be done according to the Continental Ranking List
which is established according to the following criteria:
- The points system is the same as for the COCJ-M Standing (1st rank 100
points, 30th rank 1 point).
- The competition results of the 6 periods (5 winter periods, 1 summer period)
of the past COCJ-M season will gradually be replaced by the competition
results of the 6 periods of the current COCJ-M season.
- This updating procedure is repeated after each of the periods;
- The top 50 competitors of this CRL will be taken into consideration for the
quota calculation.
- The nations quota is valid for the entire period that follows and is not affected
by actual competition results.
3. COCJ-M Evaluation
06.06.2011 Rules FIS Continental Cup Ski Jumping (Men) 2011-2012 - 2 -

3.1.1 In case of equality in points between competitors each jumper receives the
points corresponding to the rank (the following place is omitted).
3.1.2 A minimum of eight (8) National Ski Associations must participate if a COCJ-M
competition is to count for the COCJ-M evaluation.
3.1.3 Continental Cup Standings
The COCJ-M points of all individual competitions of the current season,
separated in summer COCJ-M and COCJ-M will be counted for the COCJ-M
overall winner.
In case of an equality of points in the COCJ-M standings the better ranking
order of the different competitions will be used to decide the ranking.
If the competitors are still equal, the starting order will be drawn.
4. Competition Mode and Starting Order
The COCJ-M competitions have to be carried out according to ICR art. 452
(individual- and team competitions) with the following supplements:
4.1 For individual competitions the competitors will be divided into three groups.
The number sequence of the groups is as follows:
- Group I of the organising country
- Group II (athletes without COCJ-M points)
- Group III (athletes with COCJ-M points)
The starting order within the group will be determined as follows:
- Group I: draw or seeding
- Group II: draw
- Group III: reverse order of the actual COCJ-M standings. As soon as
athletes appear in the COCJ-M standings they are seeded in
group III according to their ranking. For the first COCJ-M
competition of the season, the final COCJ-M standings of the
past season is decisive.
4.2 For the second competitive round (final), only the top 30 of the first competition
round are qualified (plus jumpers tied at the last qualified place).
They start with the same start number but in reverse order of the collective
points score from the first competitive round.
A jumper, who has reached 95 % of the maximum length of the longest jump by
the jumpers who have to qualify but has a fall, has the right to participate in the
competition in addition to the top 30.
4.3 The final round must start 20 minutes after the end of the first competition
round. The jumpers who are not at the start on time are disqualified.
5. COCJ-M-Prizes
5.1 The COCJ-M overall winner, separated in summer COCJ-M and COCJ-M,
3.1.1 In case of equality in points between competitors each jumper receives the
points corresponding to the rank (the following place is omitted).
3.1.2 A minimum of five (5) National Ski Associations must participate if a FCJ-M
competition is to count for the FCJ-M evaluation.
3.1.3 FIS Cup Standing
The FCJ-M points of all individual competitions of the current season will be
counted for the FCJ-M overall winner.
In case of an equality of points in the FCJ-M standing the better ranking order
of the different competitions will be used to decide the ranking.
If the competitors are still equal, the starting order will be drawn.
4. Competition Mode and Starting Order
The FCJ-M competitions have to be carried out according to ICR art. 452 (individual-
and team competitions) with the following supplements:
4.1 For individual competitions the competitors will be divided into three groups.
The number sequence of the groups is as follows:
- Group I of the organizing country
- Group II (athletes without FCJ-M points)
- Group III (athletes with FCJ-M points)
06.06.2011 Rules FIS Cup Ski Jumping (Men) 2011-2012 - 2 -

The starting order within the group will be determined as follows:
- Group I: draw or seeding
- Group II: draw
- Group III: reverse order of the actual FCJ-M standings. As soon as athletes
appear in the FCJ-M standings they are seeded in group
III according to their ranking. For the first FCJ-M competition of
the season, the final FCJ-M standing of the past season is decisive.
5. FCJ-M-Prizes
5.1 The FCJ-M overall winner, (summer and winter), receives the FIS Cup trophy.
The first three competitors receive a FIS medal.
The trophy and the medals will be provided by the FIS.
The FIS Cup trophy and the medals shall only be awarded at the final.
6. Accommodation
An invitation and information packet must be sent by the organiser to each National
Ski Association. Participating teams must enter their competitors prior to
the published entry deadline. By doing so, secure their required number of
booked reservation.
For booked room reservation not used, the organiser has the right to demand a
cancellation fee from the resp. National Ski Association.
7. Reimbursement of Expenses for Travel and Accommodation
If necessary, the reimbursement of expenses for travel and accommodation for
foreign TD, TD Assistant and Jumping Judges has to be paid according to ICR
art. 405.4. The organiser has to provide and take over a shuttle service between
the accommodation and the competition site.
8. FCJ-M Control and Reports
8.1 Each FCJ-M organiser must get in touch with his national "press agency" before
the competition season and make sure that, immediately after the FCJ-M
competition, the FCJ-M result list or at least the FCJ-M ranks will be distributed
by this agency.
06.06.2011 Rules FIS Cup Ski Jumping (Men) 2011-2012 - 3 -

8.2 The press-/media service has to be organised and performed according to the
recommendations and guidelines of the International Ski Federation as well as
the International Association of Ski Journalists (AIPS).
8.3 The TD is responsible for the control and the report on the FCJ-M event. The
writing and the prompt dispatch of the report to the FIS Office, together with the
FCJ-M result list must be completed from the competition site
registration.
If such a written agreement is not given, the competitor may not participate
in any FIS calendar events for a period of twelve months from the end of
the last season in which he competed for his present National Ski

Association, nor may he/she be issued with a licence to participate in FIS
races by the new National Ski Association.
These rules are also valid when a competitor has more than one
nationality and would like to change National Ski Association licence
registration.
203.5.2 The FIS Council reserves the right in its absolute discretion, to grant or to
decline to grant, a change of licence notwithstanding the fulfilment of the
aforementioned conditions where it deems there to be truly exceptional
circumstances and it is contrary to the spirit of the rule and in the best
interests of snow sportthe International Ski Federation to do so (e.g. to
decline to grant a change of licence if a member National Ski Association
tries to “import” a competitor).
203.5.3 In the event that a competitor does not fulfill all the criteria required to
apply for a change of National Ski Association licence registration, Tthe
onus shall be on the athlete competitor to demonstrate in writing to the
satisfaction of the FIS Council that such exceptional circumstances exist
and it is in the best interests of the International Ski Federation to grant the
change.
203.5.4 Every A competitor automatically loseswill retain his old FIS points if he
changes his National Ski Association. The FIS Council may grant
exceptions for justifiable cases under the condition that the former National
Ski Association granted the release of the competitor.
203.5.5 In the event that any of the documents for an application to change licence
registration submitted by the National Ski Association (letter of release
from the former National Ski Association, passport, residency papers) are
found to be false, the FIS Council will sanction the competitor and the new
National Ski Association.
404.1.5 Further Qualification and Revocation
All licensed Jumping Judges …
Once Jumping Judges reach the age of 60, they are automatically
removed retired as Jumping Judges. However, they may continue to
function as a Jumping Judge for competitions at “Continental Cup”, “FIS
Cup” and “International competition”-level until 65 and in their own Ski
Associations at national-level competitions.
Jumping Judges and other persons according to the regulations of the ICR
(art. 430). He must not use or have on his person any means of
communication to other persons. The Jumping Judge must enter their
given points deduction personally and without assistance into the data
system and/or on the style note card. In the case of all discrepancies the
deduction (score) entered by the Judge into the data system is decisive.
Within the entire length of an interval of the respective athlete discrepancies
of the entries (scores) can be announced and corrected.
404.2.1 Distance Measurers
At OWG, SWC, WSFC, JWSC and World Cup, Grand Prix, COC and FIS
Cup events video distance measuring will be used, so that the distance
measurers who are positioned in the landing segment of the video
distance measuring will only then go into action if there is a technical
failure of the video measuring.
For this reason the measuring distance, which these distance measurers
are assigned to, can be up to 10 m long, and the distance measurers have
to stand higher off to the side. In addition, there must be cross-lines
marked every 5 m on the landing hill.
At OWG, SWC, WSFC, WC, SGP the measuring can be done without
distance measurers as long as the recording of all jumps is secured
405 The Nomination, Reimbursement, and Insurance of Competition
Five at a time, the nominated Jumping Judges will officiate at the
respective Ski Jumping competitions at OWG and SWC, or at the
respective competition days at WSFC, taking turns based on a draw
decision.
The 6th Jumping Judge of the respective competition or competition day
will act as start or fall referee (Jury decision).
411.5 Construction Requirements for the Jumping Hill that Serve the
Elements of Competition and Safety
411.5.1 The Inrun
The inrun for the jumping hill is to be designed to provide the necessary
speed vo at which a maximum jumping distance for the hill can be
reached. The layout of the starting gates shall be equal in their distance
apart and with a maximum height difference between each starting place
not exceeding 0.40 m. In addition, the starting places shall be numbered
so that the lowest starting place is designated as start gate number 1.
The prepared snow surface of the inrun must equal the designed snow
depth of the profile boards. To the outside of the profile boards, a guard rail
of minimum 0.5 m in height is to be constructed. The minimal placement of
the guardrails shall be from the start till 1m from the edge of takeoff. The
distance between the guardrails and the prepared b1 width should not
exceed an additional 25 cm in overall width.
It is essential that the inrun area within the guardrails is free and clear of
all obstructions that could endanger a fallen jumper. At the upper most
placement, the upper edge of the guardrail shall be tapered and rounded
downwards to ensure additional safety at the beginning of the guardrail.
411.5.2 The Landing Area
From the bottom of the take off, the entire designed width of the landing
slope must be prepared with snow. No obstacles are allowed in the
prepared area and movable devices must be removed when the hill is in
use.
The placement of guardrails on both sides of the landing hill is required for
the safety of a fallen jumper or stopping of a runaway ski. The guardrail
shall be of a height of minimum 70 cm above the prepared snow profile of
the landing hill. The placement of the guardrails on the landing hill shall be
from 0.1 w to the end of the transition curve. From the end of the transition
curve to the exit gate and around the entire outrun area the height of the
guardrail shall be 1 meter above the prepared snow profile. The snow
profile height as well as the distance markers (paddles) should be marked
on the guardrails. In addition, the guardrails must be parallel to the landing
hill profile.
11.11.2011 Precisions Ski Jumping and Ski Flying 2009/2010 - 2011/2012 - 5 -

413 Ski Flying Hills
Particular rules apply to Ski Flying hills. The new building or reconstruction
of any current Ski Flying hill may be started only after plans have been
approved by the FIS. The following restrictions and requirements must
also be met:
- h:n must be at least 0.60
- The maximum value of VO is 29 30 m/s.
- The height difference between the edge of the takeoff platform and the
lowest point of the transition curve to the outrun flat shall be ≤ 130135 m.
- The width of the landing slope at K (bk) must be bk ≥ 0,18 w
- The width at the end of the r2 radius and the start of the outrun at Upoint
bu must be ≥ 0,20 w
In addition on the edge of the takeoff platform, on both sides and outside
of the landing area guardrails, the exact snow profile height of the K-point,
the HS distance and the U-point, have to be marked on concrete material.
These marks have to correspond and reflect the given marks on the hill
certificate.
414 The Approval of Jumping Hills
Jumping competitions listed in the FIS Calendar may be carried out only
on jumping hills with current FIS approval and an official hill certificate.
The Sub-Committee for Jumping Hills provides certificates for normal,
large, and Ski Flying hills.
Small and medium jumping hills must be homologated by National Ski
Associations if no international competitions are to be arranged. Standards
of National Ski Associations for small and medium size hills can deviate
from FIS standards.
414.1 New or Reconstructed Jumping Hills
414.1.1 Before the start of hill construction, the owners of the jumping hill must
submit their plans to the hosting National Ski Association. The plans are
then submitted for approval to the chairman of the Sub-Committee of
Jumping Hills as well as to the Jumping Committee for confirmation of
logistical and organisational aspects. This process shall be done for both
new and reconstructed jumping hills. It is a submission requirement to
submit 3 copies of the plans, 1:500 scale, including both profile and aerial
view of the proposed jumping hill.
414.2.1.1 Homologation for Jumping Hills which are intended to be used for
international competitions can only be granted if all requirements and
measures demanded by the Jumping Committee, given under Art. 414.1.4,
are kept.
422 The Competition
422.1 The Jury shall decide the length of in-run (starting place) to be used. Once
a majority decision has been reached on the start to be used, its length
must remain the same for the entire round of jumps unless the round is
stopped and restarted. No jumper is permitted to use a greater length of
in-run (higher start) than that determined by the Jury.
11.11.2011 Precisions Ski Jumping and Ski Flying 2009/2010 - 2011/2012 - 6 -

At WCJ, WSC, SFWC and OWG the Jury is allowed to change the in-run
gate within the same competition round. Such a decision must be based
on a unanimous decision and only if the so called “wind- and gate compensation
system” is used.
422.2 The jumper is not allowed to use ski poles or any other kind of assistance.
Nor is the jumper allowed to obtain outside assistance.
It is mandatory for the competitor to wear his start number during all
rounds (training, qualification and competition).
Competitors who violate this ruling will be disqualified.
454.3 Forejumpers
The organiser is responsible for the arrangement of twelve (12) qualified
forejumpers on each day. These jumpers may not be part of the official
competition but must be entered by their National Ski Association. All of
them must be capable to start from the starting point established by the
Jury for the competition round. All forejumpers have to be at least 18 years
old.
454.4.2.2 Each nation may enter up to six competitors, all of who may jump in the
train- ing session. At the qualification round, only the maximum number of
four ath- letes per nation is allowed to be entered. The qualification round
reduces the number of participants to 40 for the first competition round.
The starting order for training, qualification, trial and competition rounds as
well as the modus as such is the same as for individual competitions at
OWG and WSC World Cups in Ski Flying with the following modification
for the second competition day of the individual event: at the trial and
competition rounds only the best 30 of the previous day are allowed to
take part (see art. 451.4 and 451.5)
