GENERALThe <strong>2012</strong> U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> qualifying competition season consists of a total of 14 events. Theseinclude 12 qualifying events (nine regional championships, three sectional championships), the <strong>2012</strong> U.S.Junior <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> Championships (juvenile and intermediate) and the <strong>2012</strong> U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong>Championships (novice, junior and senior). All 14 events are sanctioned by U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> andconducted according to the most current U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> rulebook, <strong>2012</strong> edition, with changes andclarifications as posted on the U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> web site and this announcement. Compliance withthese rules as updated or amended is the responsibility of the participants. U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> reservesthe right to incorporate revisions to the international judging system (IJS) made by the ISU for junior andsenior events and by U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> to novice events and below.The qualifying and national championship competitions are only open to competitors who (1) Are currentmembers of U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> (2) Meet the eligibility requirements according to U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong>Rule 2211 (3) Meet all age and test requirements pertaining to the event to be entered and (4) Meet thecitizen and residency requirements as stated in Rules 2230-2243 of the U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> Rulebook.Please note amendments have been made to the requirements for returning U.S. skaters as well as non-U.S. skaters wishing to compete. Failure to do so creates extra work for the officials working your competition.You will not be allowed to receive your credential at registration until your PPCS is submitted.D. M<strong>US</strong>ICCOMPETITON M<strong>US</strong>IC INFORMATION (Required component of online registration)U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> requires all competitors to fully complete a competition music information formas part of the online registration process.The following information is required for each piece of music used in the composition of the shortprogram and free skate: composer, orchestra, duration of music, record label/number (optional buthighly recommended if obtainable).


<strong>2012</strong> <strong>Regional</strong> <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> ChampionshipsCOMPACT DISCS (CDs)For all qualifying events during the <strong>2012</strong> season, CDs are the only acceptable media. CDs must be:Clearly marked with name (last name, first name), event entered and the music time/ length.Each CD must have only ONE (1) track on it. In the case of a short program and freeprogram, two (2) separate discs must be used. Any disc with more than one (1) track willNOT be accepted!Lead in time (time before the music begins) on CDs may not exceed two (2) seconds.Due to compatibility and reliability reasons, music may NOT be submitted on rerecordable"CD-RW" discs.Each CD must be turned in - in a paper CD sleeve with a see through window (obtainable atany office supply store), also labeled with the skater’s name and event.Standard hard plastic jewel cases or other CD holders are no longer acceptable. CDs that arenot properly identified will NOT be acceptedCompetition music must be turned in at the registration desk at the time of registration. At theChampionships, competitors will not receive their credentials at registration until they turn in theirmusic. The originals used at the regional championships will be forwarded to the sectionalchampionships and the U.S. Junior Championships for those advancing. Seeding and Qualifying Rounds at <strong>Regional</strong> ChampionshipsAny skaters who are added to an event due to unforeseen circumstances will be added to oneof the groups (which group will be at the discretion of the chief referee) up to 48 hours beforethe start of the first qualifying group in that event. No reseeding or reassignments betweengroups will be made after the competitors are notified of their qualifying groups. Posting ofthe start order will be on the LOC website or the arena. The official schedule of events willbe posted at the competition.

QUALIFIERSSINGLES COMPETITORSAll singles competitors advancing to the sectional championships or the U.S. Junior Championshipswill receive instructions for downloading the specific event announcement from www.usfsaonline.orgfor the competition to which they have advanced.For every competitor, all information required to be sent to the sectional championships or U.S.Junior <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> Championships local organizing committees (photos, practice ice requests, etc.)must be postmarked no later than the deadline on the respective form.For those competitors receiving a bye to the sectional championships, you will receive eitherinstructions for downloading the announcement or your announcement via email and must follow thedeadlines set forth by the LOC.B. ALTERNATESSkaters placing in fifth and sixth place (unless there are fill-ins) at the regional championships in thenovice, junior and senior singles events will be designated as first and second alternates. Official AnnouncementsThe Official Bulletin Board will be maintained at Richfield Ice Arena. The Official Schedule of Events willbe posted on the Official Bulletin Board and will supersede all other schedules. It is the responsibility ofeach competitor to check the Official Bulletin Board DAILY for all official notices. The skating orders will beposted at the start of the first practice for the competition.RegistrationAll communications, confirmation times and event notifications will be via email and websiteposting. Check the St. Paul FSC website at www.stpaulfsc.org for all official communication.The official registration desk at Richfield Ice Arena, will be open on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 and will remainopen throughout the championships. Registration Desk hours will be posted on the St. Paul FSC website atwww.stpaulfsc.org. Credentials and information packets will be provided to competitors at time of registrationupon receipt of the competitor’s music. Skaters will NOT receive their credentials unless their ProgramContent form has been submitted on line at usfigureskating.org. A PPCS must be completed prior to competitorsbeing credentialed per U. Children 5 and under are free. Advance sale $30 all-event passesare available. Please check the Advance Order information. Admission will be charged beginning SaturdayOct. 15, 2011.CredentialsCredentials for competitors, coaches, and one chaperone will be issued at time of registration during thecompetition. A skater will not receive their credential until their competition music is turned in. Skater andcoach credentials will be required to enter secure areas (e.g. dressing rooms and hallways, etc.). Parentswill not be allowed in the secure areas. Chaperone credentials admit the individual to spectator areas only.Lost competitor or coach credentials will be replaced for a $25 fee. Chaperone credentials will not bereplaced.CoachesAll coaches must be current registered members of U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> and PSA. Coaches must also havecompleted the Coach Registration process and be Category A CER Compliant. A photo ID is required toobtain credential. Proof of membership must be presented at the Coaches Registration Desk upon arrival toobtain credentials needed for access to locker rooms and ice entry area.11


Photography and VideoEVC, an official U.S. <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> sponsor, will provide professional videotaping services.VIDEOTAPING OF THE COMPETITION IN ANY FORM, INCLUDING PRACTICE ICE, IS NOTPERMITTED – EVEN FOR PERSONAL <strong>US</strong>E. Photographs are permitted for personal use only, but for thesafety of the skaters, no flash photography is allowed. The arena has seating for spectators and a snack bar which will be openduring practice sessions and during the competition. Locker rooms are available for use. Several vendorswill be present during the competition in Rink 1 (Wood Arena) for basic supplies and needs. The facility ispart of a park system that includes rollerblading trails, picnic areas and free parking. Limited practice icewill be available at the competition arena once the events begin. Additional practice ice will be at PleasantArena, 848 Pleasant Ave, St. Paul MN 55102. Pleasant Arena has a single 200’ x 85’ surface, bleachers,locker rooms and an off ice room. <strong>2012</strong> <strong>Upper</strong> <strong>Great</strong> <strong>Lakes</strong> <strong>Regional</strong> <strong>Figure</strong> <strong>Skating</strong> Championships Practice Ice FormThere are three types of practice ice: (1) PROGRAM ICE - (short program or free skate sessions with music); (2)GENERAL PRACTICE ICE - (no music); and (3) PRE-EVENT PRACTICE ICE - (competition day ice). Ice will beavailable at Richfield Arena (Richfield 1—Wood and Richfield 2—Metal) and Pleasant Arena. Ice will be available forpurchase on the competition surfaces at Richfield on Friday Oct. 14 so that competitors will have an opportunity to skateon the same sheet of ice on which they will be competing. We can only guarantee ice time on your competition sheet onFriday. Limited practice ice will be available at Richfield Arena once the competition begins, although Pre-Event PracticeIce will be scheduled on competition days. We will schedule other practice ice at Richfield Arena as the competitionschedule permits. Practice ice will be available at the Pleasant Arena throughout the competition.Competitors may purchase one Program Ice session per day for each event (e.g., short program and free skate) forwhich they are registered, Pre-Event Practice Ice for each day they compete, and as much General Practice Ice as theywish. If your event has a qualifying round, please purchase ice only up to the qualifying round. We will not refundunused ice time nor will we consider any special requests for ice time.All skaters are required to present their ice tickets and credentials to the ice monitors before skating on their practice icesessions.
