P2CThe P2C communicator is intended for remote readout of electricity meters on the level of industrial consumption according to the protocol complyingto the IEC 61107 standard. It enables bi-directional data transmission from a meter to a data processing centre and vice-versa. The communicatoris provided with two communication interfaces - one for the access to the meter, and another for data transmission to the billing centre. The communicatorreads meters via CS interface (20 mA current loop by DIN 66348) or via RS 232 interface. Data are sent to the centre via various communicationmedia (PSTN, ISDN, GSM or CaTV network). The SEP2W software enables parameter setting and readout of the communicators aswell as data processing. Differentrequests can be transmitted to themeter from the centre like the requestfor data reading or termination of thebilling period; parameters can be setin the meter from the centre.Master / slave configurationThe cascade function enables connectionof several devices to thenetwork. The master communicatorin the network is provided with abuilt-in communication interface forconnection with the data processingcentre. The master device transfersthe received data to the slavedevices and their data to the centre.In this way the access to severalcommunicators is enabled via onetelephone line.Data transmission to theconcentrator or centreA built-in exchangeable communicationinterface (a modem) transmitsdata to the centre. The followinginterfaces can be built into thecommunicator:– PSTN for data transmission overa public analogue telephone network,– ISDN for data transmission over apublic digital telephone network– GSM for transmission through amobile digital network (whenother telephone network is notavailable)– CaTv for transmission over acable TV network (only at P2CBversion).A primary protocol for datatransmission complies to theIEC 60870-5 (DIN 19244 andIEC 60870-5-102) standard. Thedevice enables data transmission onrequest; it answers the calls.
