This, combined with a hugeinsertion depth and the fact that theMULTI/JOINT ® fittings are completelymade of ductile cast iron, makesMULTI/JOINT ® XL fittings the obviouschoice when you are looking forlonglasting quality and reliability.Sealing ringsThe rubber gasket for the MULTI/JOINT ® XL fittings has a doubleconical shape with a triple radiusfeature, reducing the amount ofstress on the gasket. Next to that, theMULTI/JOINT ® XL has a middlerangesealing system, meaning that whenin resting position, the gasketdimension is exactly in the middleof the coupling range. When thepipe to be connected has an outsidediameter which is in the upper orlower part of the range, the gasketis slightly stretched, respectivelyslightly compressed. These uniquefeatures assure a minimum ofstress on the gasket, resulting in anexpected life expectancy of 50 years.Body and glandThe length of the body determinesthe insertions depth or joint gappossible. Because the insertion depthcomplies, and even exceeds, thedimensions given in EN-14525, largejoint gaps can be covered. Secondlythe design of the body and gland aresuch that losses in tension, whichwill occur in time, are compensatedby the flexibility of the ears.
