AllFreshmen will enter the school building through themain entrance (under the 2 towers) and report to theSocial Hall in front of the Main Office to receiveschedules. Orientation for the Freshmen will take placethroughout the day. New students are also to report tothe social hall to pick up their schedules.On Monday, August 16 th , returning students are toreport to their Small Learning Communities to pick upschedules. Be prepared for a full day of classes.CLASS FEES:A $<strong>10</strong> class fee will be assigned to each 9 th , <strong>10</strong> th , & 11 thgrade student. This fee will be used to provide studentsupports, activities & celebrations specific to each class.Any money left in a class account will remain with thatclass for use in the following school year.SENIOR FEES:Every Senior is required to pay a Senior Fee of $90.These fees can be paid in three $30 payments.Installments should be paid Aug.16, Oct. 19 & Jan. 6.Senior fees cover the costs associated with Graduation;including Senior breakfast, pictures, a copy of theyearbook, etc. Any money left in the senior fund will beused to purchase a gift for the graduates, as determinedby the Senior Board.WELCOME BACK TO THE 20<strong>10</strong>-2011SCHOOL YEAR!!!!We are “rolling out the red carpet” to our students, parentsand community for the 20<strong>10</strong>-2011 school year! This is not for student or staffparking. If you need to stop by to drop off something at the schoolor come in to help for some or part of the day, feel free to park onWashington Blvd!! No parking tickets will be issued! Ourcollaboration with the Street Engineering Department has made thispossible! We look forward to you joining us during the day at<strong>Wyandotte</strong>!NEED FOR FOCUS!A second change has to do with the availability of theadministrators and teachers. Please be sure to check their officehours and schedule a meeting time with them if you need to visitwith them. During the hours of 7:00am to 2:20pm their primaryfocus will be on classroom instruction. Administrators will be alsoworking in the classrooms supporting the teaching and learningprocess for a significant part of that time. Lunch ApplicationsThe cost of breakfast is $1.00 and lunchis $1.75. Free / reduced lunch applicationshave been sent out by the District office toall students except those already notified ofeligibility by SRS. Students who qualified forfree / reduce lunches last year will be servedfor only the first three (3) days of school.After that time, full price must be paid, untilapplication has been processed. A newapplication must be completed byparent/guardian and submitted forapproval by September 3, 20<strong>10</strong> forcontinuation of meals. Families whohave not received the applications areavailable in the main office andcounseling office or you may contactDistrict Nutritional Services Office at(913) 627-3900.Bus PassesThe Transportation Department will send outbus information regarding bus pick up times.Bus passes will be part of the Student I.D.badge. Questions concerning bustransportation should be directed to theDistricts’ Transportation Office at (913) 627-3<strong>10</strong>0.Activity BusesStudents must be participating in a schoolapprovedactivity such as sports, cheer,tutoring, etc. Students must have theappropriate bus pass signed by thesponsor/coach/teacher in order to board thebus. Boarding times are 3:15-3:30pm andthe late activity bus boards at 5:15-5:30pm.Students should be dismissed from activitiesand practices approximately ten (<strong>10</strong>)minutes prior to bus departure time.Parking PermitsParking permits will be required for studentsdriving to school. Permits may bepurchased from the Treasurer in the MainOffice before and after school. The cost is$<strong>10</strong>.00. Please register your vehicle the firstweek of school – items you need to bring:Driver License, Proof of Insurance and TagNumber.Electronic DevicesDevices that impede or interrupt theeducational process/school environmentincluding, but not limited to: video games,cellular phones and other electronic devicesthat are not appropriate for school. This isfor the student’s protection as well as forsecurity reasons. All these items will beconfiscated if found in use and returnedto parents/guardians only.I.D. BadgesA photo ID badge is issued for the safety ofevery student, staff and faculty member.Students must wear their ID badges at alltimes. The first badge is provided free ofcharge to students. Each replacementbadge will cost $5.00.Guidelines for ID Badges:• Must belong to the student wearing it.• Must be visibly worn above the waist.• Must be easily recognizable and notdefaced.Policies: Students must have their IDbadges in order to:• Purchase food items in the cafeteria.• Check out items from the library.• Purchase tickets and/or attend eventsduring the day: plays, musicalperformances, games and assemblies.• Ride the school bus.Breakfast Served 7:00-7:20 a.m.Regular <strong>School</strong> Hours7:25 a.m. – 2:20 p.m.Early Dismissal on Wednesday7:25 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.Absences/TardiesStudents are expected to be in their firsthour classes at 7:25 a.m. Students arrivingafter that time must check in withadministrator Brian Cooper, who will belocated in the Social Hall, to receive a passto first block. Students who arrive after8:<strong>10</strong> a.m. must report to the main officewith a parent/guardian.REPORTING AN ABSENCE:Parents/guardians must call to report arstudents’ absence and tardiness to school.To report, please call the AttendanceSecretary, Ms. Rios at 627-7691.If you reach a voice mail message please:1. Give your name and relationship tothe student.2. Give name of your student.3. Give reason for absence.4. Dress CodeWe strongly urge students and parents tobecome familiar with the dress code policy.In particular: tank tops, mesh shirts, haltertops, midriff shirts, short shorts/skirts, flipflops, pajamas, house slippers or clothingwith inappropriate messages are not to beworn. All Students will attend orientationassemblies at the start of the year to furtherreview this policy. We recognize thatclothing styles are constantly changing andsome items may be considered appropriateby students and parents for generalwear, but are inappropriate for schoolattire.Our responsibility is to maintain a schoolenvironment focusing on serious academicpursuits. We are asking parental supportin helping students make wise choicesabout their school attire so they are notput in the position of having to missclass because of an inappropriateclothing item.FROM THE NURSE:Medication PolicyPlease inform the <strong>School</strong> Nurse of anymedical problems or needs. Studentsrequired to take medicine at schoolshould present a FORM I signed by thedoctor. The FORM I may be requested atany time from the school nurse. It would bebeneficial if parents would inform the schoolpersonnel of any health problems or healthneeds. A DOCTOR’S NOTE ISNECESSARY IF A STUDENT CANNOTPARTICIPATE IN GYM CLASS, NEEDSRESTROOM PRIVILEGES, HEALTHCONSIDERATION OR IS TAKINGMEDICATION. Students should not keeptheir medication with them unless instructedto do so by the <strong>School</strong> Nurse, Mrs.Dewberry. For additional info, please call627-7671.Sick StudentsStudents are sent home for various reasons,including pink eye, severe pain or severeheadache, vomiting, contagious diseases ora fever of 99.8 or higher. Parents mustprovide transportation. Students will not besent home for headaches or cramps.Students who are sent home must get apermission pass in the Main Office, and signout before leaving. Students will not beexcused for leaving without signing out.Students In AthleticsStudents participating in any athletic program at<strong>Wyandotte</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> must have a completedphysical form signed by a physician, a signedathletic permit form listingtheir accident insurancecompany indicating properinsurance coverage orsigned waiver. These fornsmust be on file with theAthletic Department. Fallsports athletes need to takecare of this immediately ifthey have not done soalready. Athletes who participate later in the yearhave more time. Please don’t let your team-matesdown by not getting the paperwork in on time. NOONE can practice without a physical.Student Activity TicketsCost for an Activity Ticket is $45.00. Besidessupporting our athletic/activity programs, you willbe able to attend all home sports activities, vocaland instrumental music concerts at no additionalcosts. You will also receive $2 discount for schooldances. Everyone participating in Sports,Cheerleading, Drill Team, Pep Club,Instrumental/Vocal Music and STUCO membersare required to purchase an Activity Ticket. AnActivity Ticket must be purchased beforeparticipation.Family Activity TicketsCost for a Family Activity Ticket Package is$60.00. This package includes 4 adult (nonstudent)activity tickets. As a family activity ticketholder, you will be permitted to attend all<strong>Wyandotte</strong> Home activities such as plays,concerts, and regular athletic activities free ofcharge. As a special bonus you will also have VIPparking and seating at these events. Thesepasses are non-transferable, so each personincluded in the package will need to stop by theschool to receive his/her own personalized activityticket badge.Individual Activity TicketsCost for an Individual Activity Ticket is $45.00. Asan individual activity ticket holder, you will bepermitted to attend all <strong>Wyandotte</strong> Home activitiessuch as plays, concerts, and regular athleticactivities free of charge and also receive thebonus of VIP parking and seating.Senior Activity TicketAs a way to say “Thank You”, for being part of our<strong>Wyandotte</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Community, a specialsenior activity ticket will be given free of charge toanyone 65 years of age or older. You will need topersonally stop by during school hours of 7:00 am– 3:00 pm to receive your Senior Activity Ticket.A valid ID will be required.
