HARDNESS &SURFACE TESTERSTest Blocks andAccessories forHardness TestersCAGStarrett blocks can be used to testRockwell, Brinell or Vickers scales. They areavailable in steel, brass and aluminum. Eachblock is serialized, with a certificatedetailing the environmental conditions usedto test the block.Actual readings are given, with the averagesof these readings: min. reading, maxreading and a repeatability figure. Theblocks are calibrated according to ASTM E-18 standards, ANSI (NCSL) Z540-1, (ISO)10012-1, ISO/IEC 17025 andMil-std 45662A.Starrett hardness test blocks aremanufactured from square steel or brassplates, as opposed to the more commonround bar stock. The use of plate gives amore accurate and consistent surface forinspection. Metallurgical tests have provedthat during the production of round bar stock, suspended carbides in the mix migrate to thecenter of the rod.The scientific name for this condition iscarbide segregation and results in differentreadings being found in the center of a rodrather than at its outer edges. Somemanufacturers remedy this situation byremoving the centers from their blocks.Hardness test blocks are designed to beused only on one side and the indentsshould be more than .010 from the centersof two indents or no closer to the block’sedge than .040.Calibration kits are also available fromStarrett. No facility with a hardness tester inuse should be without a calibration kit. These kits come with from 3 to 20 calibratedtest blocks and the serialized penetrator thatwas used to inspect each of the blocks inthe set. When a discrepancy is detected in atester, these kits allow you to determine thedirection to proceed to resolve the issue.† Values expressed are not exact but will rangewithin acceptable limitsDRockwell Test BlocksDescription † Part No. EDPRC63 Test Block PT05050 67879RC60 Test Block PT05051 67880RC55 Test Block PT05052 67881RC50 Test Block PT05053 67882RC45 Test Block PT05054 67883RC40 Test Block PT05055 67884RC35 Test Block PT05056 67885RC30 Test Block PT05057 67886RC25 Test Block PT05058 67887RB90 Test Block PT05059 67888RB80 Test Block PT05060 67889RB70 Test Block PT05061 67890RB60 Test Block PT05062 67891RB50 Test Block PT05063 67892RB40 Test Block PT05064 67893RB30 Test Block PT05065 67894RB20 Test Block PT05067 67895RB10 Test Block PT05068 67896RA80 Test Block PT05069 67897RA70 Test Block PT05091 67898RA60 Test Block PT05092 67899RF100 Test Block PT05100 67900RF90 Test Block PT05101 67901RF80 Test Block PT05102 67902RF70 Test Block PT05103 67903RF60 Test Block PT05104 67904RF50 Test Block PT05105 67905RE100 Test Block PT05106 67906RE90 Test Block PT05107 67907RE80 Test Block PT05108 67908RE70 Test Block PT05112 67909RE60 Test Block PT05113 67910RE50 Test Block PT05114 67911BVariety of Rockwell and Brinell test blocks at a variety of hardnesslevels.
