WMCA ANNUAL CONVENTION HOSTS DIGNITARIES

key presenters at the 2012
Wisconsin Motor Carriers
Association Annual Convention.
Over 175 attended the convention
this year. Topics of
discussion included panel
presentations: current regulatory
issues, alternative fuel
options and driver shortage
issues and resources.
The meeting was held at the
Tundra Resort and Conference
Center in Green Bay
on October 25-26, 2012.
In addition to the speakers
and panel discussions, the
convention included a
reception at Lambeau Field,
28 commercial exhibits,
several awards and professional
networking.
GREG KLIMEK RECEIVES BABBITT AWARD
Greg Klimek, Klemm Tank
Lines, received the 2012
Babbitt Award at the WMCA
Annual Convention Banquet.
Each year the Babbitt Award
is presented to an individual
on behalf of the Association
based on three criteria:
service to the association,
the trucking industry and the
community. The Babbitt
Award was established in
1977.
Greg has been a member of
the WMCA Board since 1999.
He has served on the association’s
convention, membership
and nominating committees.
He has been active
in political affairs attending
the Legislative Days in

at both the WI
Petroleum Marketers Association
and the WI Propane
Gas Association.
Greg is a regular sponsor of
WMCA events.
He has been supportive of
the WI Road Team and had
five different drivers on the
team in past years.
ASSOCIATION
Greg is active in his church
and the community. He is a
driving force in a successful
annual golf outing supporting
the fight against childhood
cancer.
Greg is a person who gets
things done. He has served as
the WMCA Chairman for the
past 2 years. He is a person
who gives freely of his time
and money to assist the
WMCA and other worthwhile
organizations.

The Fleet Safety Awards were presented at the WMCA Annual Meeting Luncheon.
The Fleet Safety Contest is open to all WMCA members and awards are made in
conjunction with the Annual Meeting or convention. Companies compete in Divisions
based on the number of miles traveled and crashes in Wisconsin. Data considered
for the competition includes the calendar year ending December 31.
Nominations for the competition are typically due in the WMCA office on March 31
of the following year.

SAFETY DIRECTOR DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR SERIES COMPLETED
Three members of the Wisconsin Council of Safety Supervisors were
awarded their certificates at the WMCA Annual Convention for completing
the Safety Director Development Seminar Series Project.
Patrick Campbell, Kobussen Trailways; John Sage, Optima Associates;
and Scott Siewert, Sanimax each received a certificate for completing
the five basic seminars and one optional seminar. Then each of them
completed a project that was reviewed by the Safety Director Development
Committee and presented to the WCSS at a monthly business
meeting. Each company was also recognized with a plaque for supporting
their safety professional in this endeavor.
The Safety Director Development Series Certificate is recognized by
Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association members as a great educational
seminar series that helps their safety professionals in their daily work.
