O invisible renewer <strong>of</strong> life, look withfavor upon this lamp <strong>of</strong> night so that the sacrifice <strong>of</strong>feredthis evening may marvelously reflect your own light, andlet the power <strong>of</strong> your majesty drive out the deceits <strong>of</strong>Satan and remain wherever this blessed holy fire may betaken; through Christ our Lord. AmenTHE SOLEMN PROCESSION AND PASCHAL PRECONIUM<strong>The</strong> procession enters the church in this order: Thurifer, Crucifer, Deaconbearing the Candle, Celebrant, followed by the other ministers. <strong>The</strong>Deacon pausing at the door, the nave and the at the altar (facing thepeople) and each time singing in a higher key:Deacon:a fPeople:k k k j n f k k k j<strong>The</strong> Light <strong>of</strong> Christ!Thanks be to God!Each time the people genuflect toward the Light then light their candlesfrom the <strong>Pascha</strong>l Candle. Other candles and lamps in the church, exceptfor those at the Altar, are also lighted.7
