Adults with DisabilitiesWhite Bear Lake Area Schools believe in lifelong learning for everyoneAs part of this belief, the Community Services and Recreation Department is part ofa five-district consortium, the Community Bridge.Together with the Mahtomedi, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, Roseville Area,and South Washington County Schools, the consortium provides adults with disabilitiesaccess to education, recreation, and social activities.Community Bridge offers an array of opportunities such as assisting in mainstreamclasses offering adapted programs, identifying and encouraging adults needing servicesand facilitating opportunities for adults with disabilities to become valued, activemembers of their community.District 622 sponsors:◆◆Assistance with registration◆◆American Sign Language Interpreters◆◆Reasonable accommodations for successful participation in mainstream programsConsortium T-BallJoin us for a great way to get some exercise, meet new people and have fun with yourfriends! No experience is necessary. All levels of players are welcome. Teams willpractice, play games and participate in a tournament held in mid June. Practices andgames are generally held on Thursday evenings in May and June. Additional informationis available in the spring Community Bridge brochure or by calling the CommunityBridge office at (651) 748-7437.Let’s Go Twin CitiesExplore exciting places and attend fun-filled events in the Twin Cities area. Tripsgenerally run one Saturday or Sunday a month. Pre-registration is required throughthe Community Bridge office (651) 748-7437. Trips typically depart from and returnto the White Bear Lake Area High School South Campus. We strive to make each tripas accessible and enjoyable as possible.VFW FlyersVFW Flyers is a drop-in center offering adults with disabilities a chance to socializewith friends, play games, enjoy crafts, watch movies and much more. The Flyersmeet continuously throughout the school year on Monday and Wednesday eveningsfrom 6:15-8:15 pm at the Central Middle School cafeteria. No pre-registration isnecessary; participants register the first night and pay $1.50 each night they attend.Please call Mary Beth Magnuson at (651) 487-7966 if you have questions.
