explor<strong>in</strong>g dystopia, <strong>the</strong> sublime and <strong>the</strong> surreal, from The<br />
Graduate to Carrie. Names from <strong>the</strong> arts world, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Sam<br />
Taylor Wood and Mike Leigh, have selected films <strong>the</strong>y feel best<br />
represent one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> seven s<strong>in</strong>s.<br />

Lord Mayor’s Show<br />
10 November<br />
Starts at Mansion House – follows route along Cheapside to<br />
Fleet St, return<strong>in</strong>g along Embankment<br />
Huge public event which dates back to 1215 (<strong>the</strong> year <strong>of</strong><br />
Magna Carta) when K<strong>in</strong>g John gave <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> a charter which<br />
said <strong>the</strong> new Lord Mayor must swear an oath <strong>of</strong> allegiance to<br />
<strong>the</strong> Sovereign and ‘show’ himself to <strong>the</strong> people. Make sure you<br />
nab a spot at <strong>the</strong> front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> crowds to see this historic pageant<br />
<strong>in</strong> action – now a comb<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong> traditional pomp, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> Lord Mayor <strong>in</strong> his gold coach, and bright modern floats.<br />

Ca<strong>the</strong>dral opens its doors all day, for free, to all visitors (usually<br />
