GENERAL INFORMATIONCONCEPTThe <strong>Management</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Complex</strong> <strong>Hospitalized</strong> <strong>Patient</strong> conference is designed toprovide physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with informationand skills to improve <strong>the</strong>ir care <strong>of</strong> hospitalized patients. Topics presented willfocus on special populations, such as geriatrics, and medical problems that span aspectrum <strong>of</strong> sub-specialties, such as end <strong>of</strong> life care, prognostication, and woundcare. In addition, we will examine growing trends, such as accountable careorganizations and information technology systems, and what that means for ourpatient population and care. We will also address upcoming regulatory changes andreview existing definitions. Optional modules from <strong>the</strong> American Board <strong>of</strong> InternalMedicine Maintenance <strong>of</strong> Certification will be available at an additional fee.This program has been designed to reflect <strong>the</strong> changing epidemiology <strong>of</strong> ourhospitalized patients, from age to obesity.
