However,this sentiment is not shared in allcultures.Entering into the digital era, Westernsociety evolved from a Read-Onlyculture, where people passivelyconsume content published byan author, to a growing Read &Write culture. The latter impliesthat anyone can use existing opencontent and remix it to create newcontent.By enabling people to build uponexisting content and expressthemselves, this movement bringsseveral benefits from the individual,to his community and his society.“If you remix it, I call thepolice.”ws02-F01We identified the following patterns:• Somebody who remixes contentlacks creativity and talent• All remixes should highlight theoriginal creation, and not getmore credits• If a remix generates revenue forthe author it is not acceptable,and can only be done bypartnering with the originalauthor• The original author shouldalways be able to decide if hiscreation is remixable or notWe researched the remix culture inKenya, evoking all kinds of content,and the phenomenon is not yetaccepted in the society.“Remixing shows lack oforiginality.”INT11-M03
