HOW I TEACH: FINDING EQUATION OF A REGRESSION LINEUSING AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGYTlou Robert MabotjaWaterberg District ( Limpopo Province )Curriculum Advisor “Mathematics”Robetlou@yahoo.comTarget Audience: FET Band EducatorsDuration: 1 hourMinimum number of participants : 30INTRODUCTIONEducators are encouraged to be pro-active in developing learner’s mathematicalknowledge. They are encouraged also to apply different teaching techniques andmethods as long as they can be able to achieve the required aims and objectives asoutlined by the principle of NCS. If different kinds of techniques are applied, givingthe same outcomes, then they are considered relevant in the implementation of newcurriculum.INTEGRATION OF LEARNING OUTCOMESLearning Outcome 2:The learner is able to investigate, analyze, describe and represent a wide range offunctions and solve related problems.Assessment Standard: (10.2.2):Generate as many graphs as necessary, initially by means of point-by-point plotting, supported by available technology, to make and test conjectures and hence togenerate the effects of the parameters on the graphs of the functions.Learning Outcome 4:The learner is able to collect, organize, analyze and interpret data to establishstatistical and probability models to solve related problems.Assessment Standard: (10.4.1. b):Represent data effectively, choosing appropriately from line and broken line graphs.27
