No. Post and Salary Scale Method <strong>of</strong> Recruitment QualificationsG. 1.2 Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Grade II, (Non-Medical) 1Rs. 2500 – 10x75 – 3250 p.m.(2) By merit promotion(2) By normal promotionAn Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor who has served at least oneyear on the maximum <strong>of</strong> the salary scale or hasserved eight (8) years in the grade <strong>of</strong> associatePr<strong>of</strong>essor may be considered for promotion, if hehas published research <strong>of</strong> exceptional merit after hispromotion/appointment as such. In evaluating suchresearch, the selection Committee shall befurnished with reports from two or more than twoexperts appointed from outside the HigherEducational Institution concerned by the governingauthority on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> thesenate/Academic Syndicate. Such Committeeshould ensure that no credit is given to work on thebasis <strong>of</strong> which the applicant had previouslyreceived confirmation in his appointment or apromotion, to such work in a modified form or intranslation.Notes : (a) Every application for a merit promotionto the grade <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Gr. II shouldbe accompanied by –(i) the curriculum vitae <strong>of</strong> theapplicant ; and(ii) a statement containing a selfassessmentas regards hiscontribution as a teacher,participation in research and invarious other aspects <strong>of</strong><strong>University</strong> Life.Every application for merit promotion to the grade<strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor grade II should be referred to a Pre-Selection committee if the applicant had notobtained First <strong>of</strong> second Class Honours in his firstDegree. The pre-Selection committee which shallconsist <strong>of</strong> the dean <strong>of</strong> each faculty <strong>of</strong> the Highereducational Institution concerned, shall evaluate thereport on the applicant’s general academicbackground and whether his academic performance1 See <strong>Commission</strong> Circular No. 228 for amendment.
