Specifications for VSD/VFD MeasuresVariable speed drives (VSDs) and variable frequency drives(VFDs) for motors may qualify for an incentive.VSD/VFD must meet the following criteria:• Preapproval in writing from Idaho Power prior toequipment purchase or installation is required.• Incentives apply to new equipment and newinstallations only. Replacement VSD/VFDs are noteligible.• VSD/VFD must be installed in accordance with theInstitute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) Standard 519 and Idaho Power’s Rule K,Customer’s Load and Operations Tariff.• Throttling or bypass devices such as inlet vanes,dampers, three-way valves or throttling valves must beremoved or permanently disabled to qualify for anincentive (this specific information must be addressedin the detailed description section on page one of thisworksheet).• Incentives are based on the drive horsepower or themotor horsepower that the drive controls, whichever isless.• The motor must be between 5 and 250 horsepower,operate at minimum 2,000 hours per year, and bevariably-loaded. The VSD/VFD installation must saveenergy on the equipment that it is installed on.• Manufacturer specification sheets for the VSD/VFDmust accompany the Pre-Approval Application.• Manufacturer specification sheets for harmonicmitigation, when required, must accompany theapplication.CRR 129.15 (4/15/13) Page 1 of 2 IPC© 2013 Idaho Power
