2007 FOOTBALL COACHES & STAFFPATRICKBRACKENVIDEO COORDINATORAlbright, 2004Third SeasonPatrick Bracken begins his third season as video coordinator for Bronco football.Bracken previously served a one-year internship with the Cleveland Browns, assisting withcoaches video.A native of Clifton Heights, Pa., Bracken spent time as a production assistant for the TravelChannel, working on the show “Great Hotels” and also worked for a cable television station.Bracken attended Albright College where he received a bachelor’s degree in digital media in2004. He played two seasons of football (lettering in 2001 and 2002) at the safety positionand was a member of the rugby club team. Bracken was inducted into the Albright CollegeRugby Hall of Fame in May of 2006.BRIANBAUERATHLETIC TRAINERIndiana State, 1999Sixth SeasonKYLEBLECHADIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICESFresno State, 1993Eighth SeasonKyle Blecha became head athletic trainer of the Bronco football program in July of 2000.Prior to arriving at WMU, he served over three years as head athletic trainer at Lincoln<strong>University</strong> in Jefferson City, Mo. He is a certifi ed member of the National Athletic Trainers’Association.As an undergraduate, Blecha was an athletic training student with the Fresno State Bulldogs,completing a bachelor’s degree in physical education-athletic training in 1993.A native of Ridgecrest, Calif., Kyle and his wife, Kelley, have two daughters, Ally (15) andSydney (7).ROBERTBAKERTEAM PHYSICIANIllinoisEighth SeasonBrian Bauer is entering his sixth season at <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Michigan</strong>, having joined the WMU AthleticTraining staff in August of 2002.Bauer came to Kalamazoo by way of the <strong>University</strong> of Findlay, where he spent a year as anassistant trainer. Bauer worked with the Oiler hockey team, in addition to softball, women’stennis and men’s and women’s golf.A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Bauer served an athletic training internship with the Fort WayneKomets during the 1999 IHL season.Bauer earned a bachelor’s of science degree in athletic training from Indiana State and amaster’s degree of education from Grand Valley State <strong>University</strong> in 2001.Brian and his wife, Rebecca, have a son, Landon (2).Dr. Robert Baker begins his eighth season working with the Bronco football team.A third generation alumnus from the <strong>University</strong> of Illinois, Dr. Baker earned four degrees (BS,MS, PhD, MD) from Illinois in addition to serving a Sports Medicine Fellowship at <strong>Michigan</strong>State <strong>University</strong>.Dr. Baker authored a position statement for NATA guidelines for Asthma and Athletes andbelongs to the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society forSports Medicine and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.Dr. Baker and his wife Lynette have three children: Amanda, Katelyn and Robert Paul.<strong>32</strong>www.wmubroncos.comTERRYNELSONTEAM PHYSICIANIllinois25th SeasonDr. Terry Nelson will celebrate his silver anniversary with his 25th season with the Bronco Footballprogram.Dr. Nelson earned degrees from the <strong>University</strong> of Illinois (BS), Loyola Stritch Medical School (MD).He served an internship and Orthopedic Residency at the Southwest Health and Education Centerand completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the <strong>University</strong> of Pennsylvania.A marathon runner, Dr. Nelson belongs to the <strong>Michigan</strong> Medical Society, the American College ofSports Medicine, the American Academy Orthopedic Society and the American Orthopedic Societyand Sports Medicine.Dr. Nelson and his wife Gail have a daughter, Jennifer, and three sons, Jon, David and Ross.2007 WESTERN MICHIGAN FOOTBALL MEDIA GUIDE
