2008-09 Lady defender Profilescraig stiemsmawomen's head coachCraig Stiemsma was named the <strong>Dordt</strong> <strong>College</strong>women’s basketball coach at the end of the2006-2007 season after serving several years asan assistant coach to Glenn Bouma. Stiemsmawas the <strong>Dordt</strong> <strong>College</strong> men’s soccer coach from2003-2006 with his teams posting a 38-36-1 recordand his 2004 and 2006 teams qualifying for the NAIA RegionalTournament. He is a teacher and the chair of the Health-PhysicalEducation-Recreation department. Stiemsma was active in avariety of sports at Western Christian in Hull, Iowa, including headgirls basketball coach and assistant boys basketball coach beforecoming to <strong>Dordt</strong>.Julia De KoekkoekSophomore; Edmonds, WashingtonPlayed a short season after breaking her arm earlyafter only 10 games. Averaged 9.7 minutes in those10 games. Put up 2.2 points and grabbed 1.3 reboundsper game; was 4-6 in three-point attempts.Scored a season-high 6 points against Concordia onFebruary 16.Brittany den HoedSOphomore; Grandview, WashingtonPrepped at Sunnyside Christian School where shestarted as a junior and senior and served as cocaptainher senior season. Played on three WIAAState B Tournament teams and averaged 8.2 pointsper game her senior year when Sunnyside Christianplaced second in the tournament.Kelsie De NooySenior; Denver, ColoradoShared a starting spot with fellow post-player BreSchneidermann last season. Played in 27 games andstarted 12. She shot 41 percent from the floor and76 percent from the free throw line in just under100 attempts. Averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 reboundson the year with season highs against MidlandLutheran (24 points) and Morningside (13 rebounds). Averaged 6.6points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore.Briana De VriesFReshman; Ripon, CaliforniaPost-player for Ripon Christian High School. Averaged10.3 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.9 steals pergame. Converted 40 percent of shots from the flooras a senior in 2007-2008.Kate Du MezJunior; Brookfield, WashingtonA two-time all-GPAC honorable mention selection.Started all but one game in her sophomore season.Led the team in minutes with 32.7 and free throwattempts with 112. Put up 11.6 points, grabbed 4.1rebounds, dished out 4.2 assists, and snagged 2.86steals per game during the 2008-09 season. Scoredin the 20’s in three different games; her highest was 23, which sheput up against Waldorf on January 2. Also had single-game bests of11 rebounds and 9 assists during the season. Started 24 of 28 gamesas a freshman and averaged 11 points and 2.9 rebounds.Lesley EldridgeFreshman; Gallup, New MexicoAttended Rehoboth Christian School where sheaveraged 11.9 points per game as a senior andgrabbed 4.4 rebounds per game. Took away 2.7steals per game and handed out 1.8 assists pergame while earning all-District honors for the secondstraight year. The 2007-2008 Rehoboth Christianteam was 20-10 and made it to the New Mexico State Class 2A FinalFour. Earned Most Valuable Player Honors as a senior and was teamcaptain for three years. Was on the Navajo Nation all-Area Team in2008.Dana HanenburgSOphomore; Milaca, MinnesotaEarned all-Rum River Conference honors in the2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. Averaged 9.3points and 6.1 rebounds per contest with 1.2 assistsand 1.3 steals at Milaca High School. Shot 44.7percent from the field.Gretchen KoppendrayerSOphomore; Milaca, MinnesotaPart of both the varsity and 2007 junior varsitysquads last season. Was an all-Rum River Conferencehonorable mention player in 2006-2007 whenMilaca won the conference championship. Averaged4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 stealsher senior season.Noelle KreykesSOphomore; St. John, IndianaPlayed in 27 games as a freshman and averaged 12.9minutes of playing time per game. Shot 37 percentfrom the floor in 87 attempts. Averaged 3.7 pointsand 1.1 rebounds with 19 assists and 20 steals in herfirst year. Scored a season high 12 points, shooting5-7 with one 3-pointer against Dakota Wesleyan onJanuary 16.
