1) Enthusiasm – You will get nowhere as a dull, lazy, disinterested employee or Intern. <strong>The</strong> key to getting <strong>the</strong> most out<strong>of</strong> an experience is to be keen to learn and have an active interest.2) Au<strong>the</strong>nticity – People can smell a fake a mile <strong>of</strong>f. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not, or be interested in doingtasks that don’t suit you; In <strong>the</strong> end, you’ll come <strong>of</strong>f second best.3) Accepting – As an Intern, be prepared to get <strong>the</strong> bodgie jobs that no one wants to do. It’s a fact <strong>of</strong> life and helps notonly <strong>the</strong> company or agency move along, but will help you get to know particulars <strong>of</strong> a client or project.4) Proactive – It is common knowledge that people new in a job, unless <strong>the</strong>y’re managed thoroughly, can wind‐updoing nothing throughout a day. Don’t let this happen and do what you can to find tasks to fill‐in your time; A littlequestion – “Do you need help?” ‐ goes a long way.5) Be hungry – Especially when trying to gain <strong>the</strong> most <strong>of</strong> your Intern experience or in an attempt to secure a job, ahunger for <strong>the</strong> media and <strong>the</strong> relevant industries <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> company’s clients is a must. Thorough knowledge isobviously something that grows over time, but planting <strong>the</strong> seeds from <strong>the</strong> get‐go is a very wise move.I could not have found a greater team to work with nor a greater company to work for. I was extremely lucky to have beengiven <strong>the</strong> Internship position with Keep Left and even luckier to have been <strong>of</strong>fered a full‐time position after my Internship.
