2. Minutes of Open Business of the Congregation held on 17 th<br />

February 2012<br />

The Minutes of Open Business of the Annual Congregation held on 17 th<br />

February 2012 were approved.<br />

3. Oral Reports<br />

4. Ordinance on Retirement age for Provosts<br />

a. Received: a paper from the Provost.<br />

b. Agreed: to amend Ordinance D.11, as recommended by Congregation on<br />

17 th February 2012, so that it reads:<br />

“There is no fixed retirement age for the Provost”.<br />

5. Ordinance changes on Council Committees<br />

a. Received: a paper from the Provost.<br />

b. Agreed<br />

(i) To amend Ordinance C.2.5 so that it reads: “Notwithstanding<br />

Section 4 of this Ordinance, the Terms of Reference of all Council<br />

Committees in place on the date these Ordinances come into force<br />

shall remain effective until amended by the Council.”<br />

(ii) To amend Ordinance C.2.6 so that it reads: “Apart from ex officio<br />

members, all Fellows serving on Council Committees shall be<br />

elected by the Governing Body at the Annual Congregation. A<br />

casual vacancy may be filled by appointment by the Council.”<br />

(iii) To amend Ordinance B.3.6 so that it reads: “The Governing Body<br />

shall elect Fellows to serve on its Committees at the Annual<br />

Congregation. A casual vacancy may be filled by an election held at<br />

a Congregation.”<br />

6. North-West Cambridge<br />

a. Received: a paper from the Provost.<br />

b. Agreed<br />

(i) To authorise the Provost to reply to the University about<br />

accommodation in North-West Cambridge saying that King’s<br />

would not wish to build graduate rooms there as offered in the<br />

December 2011 University prospectus.<br />

(ii) That the <strong>College</strong> might be interested in being part of a consortium<br />

of colleges building accommodation in North-West Cambridge for<br />

graduate couple or families.<br />

(iii) That the <strong>College</strong> should pursue with the University the possibility<br />

of purchasing some private accommodation on the North-West<br />

Cambridge site.<br />

7. Obligations of Fellows<br />

a. Received: a paper from the Provost. An amendment was proposed and<br />

seconded.<br />

b. Agreed: that the paper be withdrawn<br />
