2. Minutes of Open Business of the Congregation held on 17 th
February 2012
The Minutes of Open Business of the Annual Congregation held on 17 th
February 2012 were approved.
3. Oral Reports
4. Ordinance on Retirement age for Provosts
a. Received: a paper from the Provost.

b. Agreed: to amend Ordinance D.11, as recommended by Congregation on
17 th February 2012, so that it reads:
“There is no fixed retirement age for the Provost”.
5. Ordinance changes on Council Committees
a. Received: a paper from the Provost.
b. Agreed
(i) To amend Ordinance C.2.5 so that it reads: “Notwithstanding
Section 4 of this Ordinance, the Terms of Reference of all Council
Committees in place on the date these Ordinances come into force
shall remain effective until amended by the Council.”
(ii) To amend Ordinance C.2.6 so that it reads: “Apart from ex officio
members, all Fellows serving on Council Committees shall be
elected by the Governing Body at the Annual Congregation. A
casual vacancy may be filled by appointment by the Council.”
(iii) To amend Ordinance B.3.6 so that it reads: “The Governing Body
shall elect Fellows to serve on its Committees at the Annual
Congregation. A casual vacancy may be filled by an election held at
a Congregation.”
6. North-West Cambridge
a. Received: a paper from the Provost.
b. Agreed
(i) To authorise the Provost to reply to the University about
accommodation in North-West Cambridge saying that King’s
would not wish to build graduate rooms there as offered in the
December 2011 University prospectus.
(ii) That the College might be interested in being part of a consortium
of colleges building accommodation in North-West Cambridge for
graduate couple or families.
(iii) That the College should pursue with the University the possibility
of purchasing some private accommodation on the North-West
Cambridge site.
7. Obligations of Fellows
a. Received: a paper from the Provost. An amendment was proposed and
seconded.
b. Agreed: that the paper be withdrawn
