Uniform Standards• Wear the uniform with Pride, as arepresentative of the United States CoastGuard, Reserve, Auxiliary and the Civiliancounterparts.• Elected officers should set the example.• ALL members of the Auxiliary should becognizant of member’s uniform integrity.3


Auxiliary Unique Items (Section E. AUX Manual)• E.3. Auxiliary Jump SuitAuxiliarists may wear a Jump suit on patrols and while conducting VSCs. Jumpsuits will be worn on patrols only if worn by all crew members.The Jump suit is dark blue, long- or short-sleeved, with or without belt loops. Ifwith belt loops, the uniform belt and buckle shall be worn. No sewn-in belts (selfbelts) are authorized. The Jump suit may be purchased from commercial sources.• E.3.a. Auxiliary PatchAn Auxiliary patch, 2¼ by 3¼ inches, is worn on the left breast pocket. The Auxiliary patch will be a sew-on with whiteor black background. Auxiliarists may wear a U.S. flag patch, about 2 by 3½ inches, on the upper part of the leftsleeve ½ inch below the shoulder seam. Both patches may be purchased from the AUXCEN.• E.3.b. Name TagA name tag is worn on the right breast and is either the regular pin-on type, Velcro style or sew-on name tag. Whenusing the sew-on name tag, the sew-on “USCG AUXILIARY” tag must be on the left breast.• E.3.c. Insignia or Collar DevicesMiniature office insignia or member collar devices are authorized to be worn. Cloth embroidered collar devices may beworn.• E.3.d. ShoesBlue, white or brown boating shoes or all black, low top athletic shoes with black socks are worn.E.3.e. <strong>ODU</strong> Sleeves- Tucked &UntuckedSleeves may be worn down with cuffs buttoned (or)with sleeves neatly rolled.When properly rolled, the cuff should beapproximately 2” above the elbow (mid-bicep)with only the cuff visible .To properly roll the sleeves takes some patienceand a little practice, but once mastered can beachieved without difficulty. <strong>ODU</strong> Sleeves- Tucked &Untucked (continued)1. Fully extend and flatten the sleeve ona level surface.2. Starting at the cuff turn sleeve insideout to armpit as shown. Take care toflatten the sleeve to remove anyirregular folds or creases.3. To form the fold, roll the sleeve in halfagain to form two equal segments thewidth of the “cuff”.(continued on next slide)15


<strong>ODU</strong> Sleeves- Tucked &Untucked (completed)4. Next, turn the cuff down overthe fold(Pinching the outer edge ofthe sleeve to begin the foldwill help to keep the fabricfrom slipping).5. Once in place, take care toflatten the sleeve to removeany irregular folds or creases.When properly done, only thecuff should be visible.6. To remove the roll, simply pullthe lower edge of the cuffdownward toward the wrist.16

<strong>ODU</strong> Trousers Bloused atop BootsAttach the “band” around thetop of the boot. Pull thetrouser cuff over the band androll the cuff inward,underneath the band. Oncethe cuff is in place, positionthe band just above the secondeyelet of the boot. Blousingbands and socks should not bevisible.Cord style (shown) andVelcro bands areauthorized (dark colors).20


The Untucked <strong>ODU</strong>The new Untucked <strong>ODU</strong> fabric is made of a 50/50Nylon and Cotton blend.The Uniform also has added enhancements thatinclude:•Featuring proprietary StainSmart® technology,Coast Guard Operational Dress Uniform is theideal solution for the demanding conditions ofmaritime life for the members of the US CoastGuard. The built-in fabric technology is designedto aid in getting out transmission fluid, motor oils,grease stains and other damaging substances inshipboard laundries, as well as resist fading so itstays looking and performing better, longer.•Wrinkle Resistance to be more "wash and wear."21

New <strong>ODU</strong> Top- Untucked <strong>ODU</strong>• The Coast GuardShield will beembroidered on thewearer's right shirtpocket and the twocargo pockets on thetrousers.• The Coast Guard hasincluded the shield toidentify an official CG<strong>ODU</strong>, along withshowing the wearer'spride in the CoastGuard and theuniform.27


Pen and Pencil Pocket-Untucked <strong>ODU</strong>• The hiddenPencil & PenPocket allowsyou to alwayskeep a writingtool handywithout theunprofessionallook of a penprotruding froma pocket.28


Button Pockets- Untucked<strong>ODU</strong>• The trousers havebeen redesignedwith button pockets,thus eliminating thehook and loopfasteners.• This feature hasbeen one of themost requestedchanges from thefleet29


Cargo Pockets- Untucked<strong>ODU</strong>• New to theUntucked <strong>ODU</strong> isan elasticizedcargo pocket. Nolonger will yourcargo pocket hangloose, with theheavy-duty elasticalong with abutton fastener,the pocket staysclose to the pants.Items in cargo pockets mustNot detract from a sharp, militaryAppearance.30


Enhanced Trouser Hem-Untucked <strong>ODU</strong>• The trouser hemhas beenenhanced with twopre-sewn eyelets.This allows thewearer an optionto insert a lace, orthread theblousing strapsfor a moreprofessional lookwhen blousing.31


Coast Guard Rigger’s Belt• This belt is a 1 3/4" black nylonbelt. When work, the bitter endshall extend 2-4 inches past thebelt buckle on the wearers left.(This will require the belt bepassed through the belt loopsfrom the right, the opposite ofother men's belts.) The basicriggers belt comes in one lengthand needs to be cut to size. Todetermine the correct belt length,lace the belt through and over thebelt bar. Finally pull to secure.Next, mark the belt so that nomore than 4 inches extend pastthe buckle. Make a straight cutalong this mark. Singe the end toavoid unraveling.*Riggers Belt Authorized for tucked<strong>ODU</strong> and mandatory for the untucked <strong>ODU</strong> 32
