Sportster models from 1986 to 2003 can beconverted by boring the stock cylinder from 3" to 3.5" bore and installing an S&S 883 to 1200conversion piston, but boring 2004 and later cylinders is not recommended due to the largechamfer machined on the bottom of the cylinder spigot. The upper curvesshow the same bike with the S&S 888 to 1200 conversion kit installed,but assuming anyone who would increase their engine displacementis looking for performance, we also added an S&S air cleaner and anS&S Power Tune XL exhaust system. But Wait there’s more! Both theseengines were running stock cams and stock 883 heads.
