“In support of the culture, education and health of our residents, Woodward
Communications’ generosity has graciously supported numerous organizations
financially and through the gifts of time and talent.”
DOUGLAS J. HORSTMANN, PRESIDENT AND CEO, DUBUQUE BANK & TRUST
It’s hard to think of another business that’s
more involved in our community than Woodward
Communications. As the parent company
of the award-winning Telegraph Herald and
several other multimedia products and businesses,
they have a big impact on our community—not
only by providing their services but providing
for the community, as well.
Since it came into existence, Woodward Foundation
has gifted almost $7 million to support
the culture, education, and health of the people
in the communities it serves. “It’s a legacy that
started with the Woodward family,” says president
and CEO Tom Yunt. “They very much believe in
philanthropy.”
But it’s not just the Woodward family and
executives who provide support—it’s the entire
company. Employees readily give their time,
talent, and treasure, and Woodward Communications
encourages and supports their
employees to do that. “It’s a cultural characteristic
of our company, and I’m proud of the pay-itforward
attitude we have,” says Tom.
Woodward Communications has been a significant
Mercy supporter, giving over $100,000 to
date. “Having access to excellent health care
benefits the quality of life for the entire community,”
says Tom. “Mercy is a lot like Woodward
in the way they treat their employees and in the
way they are involved in the community.”
Tom also has a personal connection to Mercy.
After staff cared for his son following an accident
nearly 20 years ago, Tom knew there would
someday be a pay-it-forward moment to show
his appreciation. That moment came when he
was asked to serve as Mercy’s ICU campaign
chairperson. Tom jumped on board with his full
support, helping Mercy reach the financial
goal.
Thank you, Woodward Communications, for
continuing your legacy of giving to Mercy and
our community.
