Physician hired for Lonsdale clinicGreig Glover, MD, of Inver GroveHeights will provide physician services atthe new FamilyHealth Medical Clinic ofLonsdale, which will open later this yearas a service of <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.“Dr. Glover’s skills, experience andreputation for providing patient-centeredcare and service are outstanding,” saysKen Bank, President of <strong>Northfield</strong><strong>Hospital</strong>. “His commitment to serve theneeds of the Lonsdale community is akey element of our vision to provide asignificantly higher level of medical services closeto home for residents in the area.”Dr. Glover will also provide medical leadershipfor <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>’s new network of medicalclinics serving the South Metro and Greater<strong>Northfield</strong> areas. <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> expects tobreak ground on a primary care clinic in Lakeville-Farmington this coming spring.Dr. Glover brings to his position extensiveexperience leading and governing healthcareorganizations. He has served as chief of staff andas a member of the board of directors for a communityhospital, is currently a member of the CareDelivery and Quality Improvement Committee fora large metro healthcare system, and holds membershipin both the American Academy of FamilyPractice and the American College of PhysicianExecutives.“His leadership experience will be a veryimportant resource to help guide the developmentREGIONAL NEWSGreig Glover, MDof our new multi-site practice,” says Bank.Dr. Glover graduated from the U.S.Air Force Academy with a degree inAeronautical Engineering and served onactive duty as a pilot for 11 years beforecompleting medical school and his familypractice residency at the University ofNebraska. Dr. Glover is board certified infamily practice and also continues toserve as a Lt. Colonel in the Air ForceReserve. He has practiced previously inMorris and Edina, Minnesota.“In a rural family practice, where you do thefull spectrum of family practice, a physician hasthe opportunity to be really involved in a personalway with people’s healthcare,” Dr. Glover says.He says he is looking forward to being part ofthe community and working cooperatively withother providers in the immediate area.FamilyHealth Medical Clinic of Lonsdale willbe a comprehensive medical clinic offering primarymedical care and selected specialty services;including optometry, ophthalmology, and retaileyewear services. The 8,700 square foot clinicbuilding, located in the new Willow Creek Heightsdevelopment on the east edge of Lonsdale onHighway 19, is expected to open for services inthe summer of <strong>2005</strong>.The Lakeville-Farmington clinic will offer primarymedical care; optometry, ophthalmology andretail eyewear services; OB/GYN specialists; occupationalmedicine and a rehabilitation clinic.<strong>Hospital</strong> conversion study continuesThe <strong>Northfield</strong> City Council is now in the secondphase of a study to determine the costs andbenefits of converting the city-owned <strong>Northfield</strong><strong>Hospital</strong> to an independent, community non-profitorganization.Over the next few months, various facets of apotential conversion, such as governance of thenon-profit, community control, financial arrangementswith the city, conversion costs and theimpact of a conversion on employees’ PERA, willbe studied and brought back to the city counciland the hospital board for further consideration.The <strong>Northfield</strong> City Council initiated thisstudy of alternative organizational structures lastyear. Over time, the council has felt increasinglyill-equipped to provide oversight to an operationof <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>’s size and scope, especiallyas the hospital begins to develop primary careclinics in other communities, such as Lonsdaleand Lakeville.If the city and hospital board decide to moveahead with the conversion, officials estimate theprocess could be completed by the end of the year.3
