4WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICES<strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> now has three obstetrician/gynecologistsfrom Mayo Health System onstaff to address a full range of women’shealth issues.The women services team nowincludes: Deb Suppes, MD; AnnFriedmann, MD; and MichaelSeryakov, MD. Drs. Suppes,Friedmann and Seryakov see patientsat Cannon Valley Clinic, a part of theMayo Health System, 710 DivisionStreet, and perform surgeries anddeliver babies at <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.Dr. Suppes In addition, a fourth OB/GYN specialist,Melanie Dixon, MD, will beginwork at Cannon Valley Clinic in<strong>Northfield</strong> in August.Obstetricians/gynecologists providecomprehensive care for women,including preventive healthcare, education,counseling, prenatal care, cancerscreening, sexual and contraceptiveguidance, routine and high-riskobstetrics, infertility, urinary incontinenceand gynecological surgeries.Dr. SeryakovMary Crow, vice president ofPatient Care Services, says she isdelighted to have the level of specialtycare these physicians provide availablehere at <strong>Northfield</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.“Women will experience a broaderand more complete range of medicalservices right here in their own community,”Crow says, “allowing morechoices for their care.”Dr. FriedmannDr. DixonExpanded women’s services availableDeb Suppes, MDDr. Suppes earned her medicaldegree at Mayo Medical School inRochester. She completed a residencythrough the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Integrated Residency inObstetrics/Gynecology and Women’sHealth. Dr. Suppes has a specialinterest in working with teenagers.“I try to make a teen’s first visit tothe gynecologist a good experience,”says Dr. Suppes. “If a teen has a positiveexperience, she is more likely toschedule regular exams throughouther lifetime.”Michael Seryakov, MDMichael Seryakov, MD, is board certified inobstetrics and gynecology. He received his medicaldegree from the Medical Institute of Leningrad andcompleted his residency at the Riverside RegionalMedical Center in Newport News, Va. Prior tojoining Cannon Valley Clinic, he was in privatepractice in Fridley, Mn. Dr. Seryakov is a native ofRussia. He received his United States citizenship in1991.Ann Friedmann, MDAnn Friedmann, MD, a board certified obstetrician/gynecologistand certified lactation consultant,provides health care to women of all ages,including prenatal care, labor and birth, and generalgynecologic care.Dr. Friedmann received her medical degreefrom the University of Minnesota, and completedher residency and internship at Madigan ArmyMedical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. Mostrecently, Dr. Friedmann, a major in the UnitedStates Army, was stationed in Tuzla, Bosnia whereshe served as a gynecologist and general surgeonfor troops. Dr. Friedmann is also an InternationalBoard Certified Lactation Consultant with specializedtraining and experience in helping womenbreastfeed successfully.Melanie Dixon, MDMelanie Dixon, MD, received her medicaldegree from the University of North Carolina. Sheis currently completing her residency as chief residentof obstetrics and gynecology at Mayo Clinic,Rochester. Dr. Dixon will join Cannon ValleyClinic in August of this year.
