Piano ProjectThe <strong>Detroit</strong> <strong>Symphony</strong> <strong>Orchestra</strong> is proud to present the <strong>2010</strong> Leonard Slatkin Holiday PianoProject. Student pianists will compete for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform onstage with the <strong>Detroit</strong> <strong>Symphony</strong> <strong>Orchestra</strong> at <strong>Orchestra</strong> Hall in a Pops Concert conductedby Leonard Slatkin. In the competition, each pianist will be asked to perform two pieces ofpiano music arranged by Leonard Slatkin and published by Hal Leonard Corporation. Thearrangements are selections from Holidays for Piano and Strings, Volume 1 and 2 from theLeonard Slatkin Youth <strong>Orchestra</strong> Series. Five winners will be selected after two rounds ofcompetition to appear in a DSO Holiday Pops Concert in December. Educational Concert SeriesFor more than 80 years, the Education Concert Series(ECS) has introduced classical music to metro-<strong>Detroit</strong>school children by featuring interactive programs with the<strong>Detroit</strong> <strong>Symphony</strong> <strong>Orchestra</strong>, for children in grades 3-12.Performances last approximately 45-50 minutes and takeplace in <strong>Orchestra</strong> Hall. Registration forms for the <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>11</strong>series will be mailed, emailed and made available to downloadfrom our website in late August.
