Nevelskoi in Vladivostok, Russia.<strong>The</strong> majority of the participants were University lecturers and people representing the local shipping community.STCW Manila amendmentsIf we are correct, the Maritime Resource Managementcourse is the first training programme to receive national acceptancein accordance with the STCW Manila amendments. Sincethe STCW requirements are of major importance to seafarers,the shipping companies and training providers, the certificationreceived by the Maritime Department of the <strong>Swedish</strong> TransportAgency in February <strong>2012</strong> made us both proud and happy.<strong>The</strong> areas concerned for the STCW Convention are:• Reg. A-II/1 for Bridge Resource Management• Reg. A-III/1 for Engine-room Resource Man agement• Reg. A-II/2 and A-III/2 for Use Leadership and ManagerialSkills• Reg. A-II/1, A-III/1 and A-III/6 for Application of Leadershipand Teamworking Skills.MRM theme for social events during <strong>2012</strong>With a number of high-profile incidents taking place recently,the interest in Maritime Resource Management (MRM) issues hasincreased.
