We truly couldn’t do it without you.We thank Delta Kappa Gamma/Upsilon of Greensburg for its donation of 67pounds of food and monetary donations.Thank you to the Murrysville/ExportDemocrats for its donation of 265 poundsof food and $100 donation.The Slickville Lions Clublives the motto of “WeServe”. In keeping with thiscommitment, the Club conductsmany worthy serviceprojects, activities and fundraising events.They make contributions throughout the yearto over 50 organizations as well as helpingindividuals with eye glass needs, power/heat,and fire restoration, and food and health expenses.In April of this year, the Lions Clubdonated $500 to WCFB.Thank you to Zion’s Lutheran Churchof Greensburg for its generous donation of$545 in gift cards. Your donation is alreadyworking to feed those in need.Allegheny Energy Federal Credit Unionheld its 76th Annual Meeting and Dinner inMay of this year. During this celebration, a50/50 raffle was held. In addition to thefunds raised during the raffle, Allegheny EnergyFederal Credit Union agreed to match theamount dollar for dollar. They selected WCFBas the recipient of their collection. They donated$282 to help support the ongoingefforts throughout Westmoreland County.Thank you for your generosity.Thank you to St. John’s Harrold ReformedUnited Church of Christ for itsdonation of 80 pounds of food and $368.The PA Turnpike CommissionWest Region Officein New Stanton donated259 pounds of food and $60in monetary donations recentlyto WCFB. Thank youfor helping to end hungerhere at home.This year the Greensburg CentralCatholic Cheerleader Squad showedtheir appreciation to the coaches and parentswho do lots of fundraising to help providethem with uniforms and other equipmentneeded to keep the school spirit alive at GCCHS! They wanted to thank the community forits support by making a donation to WCFB tohelp those who are less fortunate. This organizationdonated $200 to WCFB. Thank youto the cheerleaders, coaches and parents fortheir selfless contribution.A special thankyou to Ceratizit USA,Inc., in Latrobe for itsdonation of $1,000from the proceeds of a“clean up” old officefiles, desks and miscellaneous items. In lieuof charging a fee to the staff who were interestedin purchasing the office furniture, theyasked them to make a donation to WCFB!The employees responded and the companycontributed to their efforts as well.The employeesof Crown Lift Trucksdonated over $350to WCFB this year.Thank you CrownLift. We really appreciate your efforts in helpingto end hunger here at home.The Westinghouse SURE(Service Uniting Retired Employees)donated $500 to WCFB insteadof giving token gifts tothose attending their AnnualMeeting! Thank you Westinghouse SURE.St. Mark’s and St. Paul’s LutheranChurches in Arona donated over 70 poundsof food and monetary donations. Thank youfor helping your hungry neighbors.Thank you to Father Paul Lisik and theParishioners of Our Lady of GraceChurch for their generosity during a free willoffering at a Lenten presentation of the LivingStations. Over $270 was collected and donatedto WCFB.Thank you toBoard Member,Kris Douglas, andFirst NationalBank of Pennsylvania for their donation of143 pounds of food and over $200. Wecouldn’t do it without you.This spring, Excela Health, Inc. presenteda Diabetes Health Fair for food pantry recipientsat the Scottdale Food Pantry and theDerry Food Pantry. The Fair included hemoglobinALC testing to determine glucose controlfor known diabetics and to locate anyproblems with glucose control. Representativesprovided information related to caringfor diabetics. Thank you to Excela Health fortheir services.Thank you to the many associates at theWestmorelandMall Macy’s whorecently helped toraise $1,278.30 fortheir “Bag Hunger” Campaign. We Couldn’t Do It Without YOU!2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation LuncheonOn April 20, WCFB held its Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon atWestmoreland County Community College. Marlene Kozak, WCFBCEO, welcomed volunteers to the luncheon. Senator Kim Wardand Captain Elvie Carter from New Kensington Salvation Armyspoke of Childhood Hunger and the efforts being done in WestmorelandCounty to address it. Congressman Tim Murphy gavecitations and congratulated the 2011 Individual Volunteer of theyear, Andrew Graziani, of Greensburg who volunteers monthly atthree Greensburg food pantries, and the 2011 Volunteer Group ofthe Year, Penn Trafford High School’s Community Action Program.The following Volunteers of the Month were also recognizedby Louise Wilhelm, WCFB Volunteer Coordinator:May 2010—Cody Kuhn (Crossroads School)June 2010—Victor Bernard (Franklin Regional Middle School)July 2010—Leah Bowman (Kiski Area High School Key Club)August 2010—Emily Hoerner (American University of Wash. Gail alsois the organizer and heart behind the “Sing for Their Supper” Event heldin Irwin each September. Thank you, Gail. We truly couldn’t do it withoutyou.Thank you to the Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvaniafor its continued support. So far in 2011the members have donated $597.68 through theHoss’s Restaurant promotion. The Corvette Clubgot involved with the Food Bank in 2005 when wehad our first Super Cruz! They haven’t forgottenus, and we can’t thank them enough for their constant support.Due to the generosity of a deceased member of the congregation ofThe United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington themembers were able to make donations to organizations whose workhelps many in their community. Thank you to the members of The UnitedPresbyterian Church of New Kensington for their generous gift of$1,400.00. Together, we CAN end hunger here at homeThank you to the Wal-Mart Foundation and the Pennsylvania Associationof Regional Food Banks (PARF) for a Grant that will directly impactthe Weekend Backpack Program. Thanks to these two organizations,many children in Westmoreland County will not have to know the anguishof hunger over the weekends throughout the school year. Partnersin ending hunger in Pennsylvania.At a recent luncheon held at St. MargaretMary Parish in Lower Burrell, pantry volunteerssaid goodbye to a good friend and leader,Pearl Couturiaux, who had been the pantrycoordinator for 3 years. Monsignor Gastonrecognized her for her hard work at the pantry.WCFB Agency Liaison, Gina Colosimo,thanked Pearl for her dedication and gracious commitment to the causeof helping those in need of food.
