On mustering the Moslems, itwas found that the Helper Obeide and the Refugee Omailihad been slain on the field; the<strong>Prophet</strong> wept for them andhad their bodies found and interred.<strong>The</strong> next day the captives were brought forth and weregiven the option of submitting to the Faith, or of beingkilled, or of being prisoners of war, or slaves; it was alsopromised that redemption would be allowed. Threehundred submitted, seventy were killed, seventy remainedprisoners of war, and the rest became slaves. <strong>The</strong> price ofredemption was not the same in all cases, but ranged <strong>from</strong>one thousand to four thousand pieces of silver, accordingto the wealth and position of each captive.
