Cost of the plate is $35, with $15 go<strong>in</strong>g tothe county treasurer, $10 to the Montana 4-H Foundationand $10 to the <strong>Yellowstone</strong> <strong>County</strong> 4-H Foundation.______________________________________________NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCENational 4-H Conference will be held April 6 th -11 th , 2013at the National 4-H Center just outside Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, D.C.The National 4-H Conference is a work<strong>in</strong>g conference <strong>in</strong>which youth and adults - at the <strong>in</strong>vitation of the Secretaryof Agriculture - assist <strong>in</strong> the development ofrecommendations to help guide 4-H Youth DevelopmentPrograms nationally and <strong>in</strong> their communities. Conferencedelegates are prepared, personally and professionally, tobecome more active participants with<strong>in</strong> their communitiesand effectively develop youth-adult partnerships forcommunity action.5Who May Attend:Montana will send a delegation of up to four participants.Youth delegate: Must be 15 - 18 years old as of January 1,2013 and not a high school senior dur<strong>in</strong>g the 4-H year <strong>in</strong>which they apply and attend.Adult Chaperone Delegate: Must be an enrolled volunteer<strong>in</strong> the Montana 4-H Program (24 years or older).Application Process:Complete the application available at the Extension officeby November 15 th . Applications will be reviewed byselection committee and delegates will be selected.Delegate Expenses:Partial <strong>fun</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g will be provided by the Montana 4-HFoundation to selected delegates (support dependant on thenumber of delegates). Delegates will be responsible for aportion of the approximate $1,400 total cost perparticipant.______________________________________________NOV. 16 IS FAMILY VOLUNTEER DAYFamily volunteer<strong>in</strong>g encourages the members of a <strong>family</strong>to volunteer as a unit. A "<strong>family</strong>" is "any group of two ormore people who consider themselves a <strong>family</strong>." Familyvolunteer<strong>in</strong>g can be done by the whole <strong>family</strong> together, byone parent and one child or teen, by sibl<strong>in</strong>gs together or byextended <strong>family</strong> such as grandparents, aunts, uncles andcous<strong>in</strong>s. It can be as simple as draw<strong>in</strong>g cards for children<strong>in</strong> the hospital or as complex as bond<strong>in</strong>g hundreds offamilies together <strong>in</strong> a day of volunteer work at acommunity park.
