This list containslicensed psychotherapists (licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists and social workers)and licensed advanced alcohol and drug counselors.About the LAADC (Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor)As efforts continue to advocate for State drug and alcohol Licensure, in the meantime California Certification Board Of Alcoholand Drug Abuse Counselors (CCBADC) have now begun to offer this new non-governmental issued license. To assure a consistentstandard of quality education, training and experience for an advanced licensed alcohol and drug counselor. Licensure is necessaryto safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare, and to protect the public from unauthorized services delivered by non-licensedalcohol/drug counselors, and unprofessional contact by certified/licensed alcohol/drug counselors. The LAADC is designed toalign with national/international standards of competency as developed by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium(IC&RC) and includes, but is not limited to, a master’s degree requirement and reciprocity. Additionally, this license wasdesigned to align with previous legislation submitted to the California legislature. OutpatientTreatmentHere you will find outpatient treatment. The outpatient treatment providers in this section may provide one or several of the following levels ofcare: partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, or outpatient. Many outpatient treatment programs have a set amount of hours for all participantswhile others are flexible. Outpatient treatment programs may offer anywhere from 1 to 20+ weekly hours of addiction counseling dependingon the program.DefinitionsPartial Hospitalization: The patient resides at home and commutes to and from treatment between four and seven days a week. Partial hospitalizationoften involves around 20 hours of counseling (individual, group and/or pharmacological) each week.Intensive Outpatient: This outpatient treatment usually involves closer to 10 hours of counseling per week.Outpatient Counseling: Regular outpatient counseling usually involves less than ten hours of counseling per week.Many of the programs are certified by California ADP while others are not. At this time, it is not mandatory that outpatient programs be certifiedby the State. There are rules governing who may provide addiction counseling and/or psychotherapy.
