Several workshops have been on the menu during thefall, giving young talents and students the opportunity toexplore animation and learn about pitching techniques.Kids’ workshops using Flip Boom Cartoon and Flip BoomAll-Star were held at the Bradford Animation Festivalin the United Kingdom, 16000 Images in France and theChicago International Children’s Film Festival. MarkSimon also delivered a Perfect Your Pitch workshop at FullSail University in Florida to a full room of students eagerto learn trade secrets and tips.As Halloween lends itself perfectly to inspiring thecreation of fun content, Toon Boom launched a conteston its Facebook page and generated lots of activity. Notonly did the page receive over 11,000 Facebook likes, theteam received nearly 100 submissions showing pumpkinsdancing, zombies running, and other cute Halloweenrelatedelements. In addition, there were over one millionpage views and ad views related to the contest, includingthe large advertising campaign on deviantART, ads onFacebook, social media outreach and mailing list. Basedon this success, Toon Boom has launched a series ofsweepstakes and a new contest just in time for the festiveholiday season.Joan Vogelesang receiving the Humanitarian Prize from Jean Thoren, President of Animation MagazineIn its endeavours to position the Caribbean region as anew animation hub, the Toon Boom team led a Caribbeandelegation to introduce delegates to key executivesat Nickelodeon, Sony Pictures Animation, DisneyTelevision, Film Roman, Bento Box Entertainment,Rollman Entertainment following The World AnimationFeature Films and VFX Summit in Marina del Rey. Theteam also met with Rita Street, Producer and Jan Nagel,Entertainment Marketing Diva, who welcome these newplayers in the industry. The team extends its heartfeltthanks to everyone for their kindness, generosity andinvaluable advice.After a busy fall season with major events in Europe,Latin America, Asia and North America, the Toon Boomteam is poised to be as visible as possible in the comingmonths. In this quarter alone, the calendar includes CTNAnimation Expo, Booth B12, in Burbank (November16–18), during which Toon Boom hosted special guestsat its booth, namely, Michel Gagné, creator of Sagaof Rex, Erick Tran, Storyboard Artist on The Simpsonsand creator of Urban Reggie, as well as John K. whopresented his virtual studio.
