Natural changesAs a vibrant material, each wood type has its own distinctive features. This includes the most various interactions withlight and UV light. Light wood gets darker with time, dark wood types tend to lighten. Why is that? It is because of lignin,which is a key wood compound. Lignin changes the colour of the wood when exposed to sunlight. Tropical wood speciescan strongly alter when exposed to light. Iroko and Merbau wood tend more towards a dark brown tone.
