AMSA – Required Documentation – Excerpts from Alberta Legislation<strong>Dangerous</strong> <strong>Goods</strong> <strong>Transportation</strong> <strong>and</strong> H<strong>and</strong>ling<strong>Act</strong>Obstruction of inspectors11 When an inspector is exercising powers or carrying out duties <strong>and</strong> functionsunder this <strong>Act</strong>, a person shall not(a) fail to comply with any reasonable request of the inspector;(b) knowingly make any false or misleading statement either orally or inwriting to the inspector;(c) except with the authority of the inspector, remove, alter or interfere inany way with anything detained or removed by or under the direction ofthe inspector; or(d) otherwise obstruct or hinder the inspector.<strong>Act</strong>ual or imminent release - duties13 (1) Where a release of dangerous goods in excess of a prescribedquantity or concentration occurs or is imminent from a means ofcontainment being used to h<strong>and</strong>le or transport dangerous goods, anyperson who at the time has the charge, management or control of themeans of containment shall make a report of the occurrence or imminenceof the release in the prescribed manner <strong>and</strong> containing the prescribedinformation to a prescribed person.(2) A person who is required by subsection (1) to make a reportshall, as soon as possible in the circumstances, take all reasonableemergency measures to reduce or eliminate any danger to publicsafety that results or that may reasonably be expected to result fromthe release.1
