As a company director, it is often necessary 

for one to deal with numbers. 

Often, more than I would like 

to. However, I have now come across 

a number that really impressed me:

more than a million 

nights in an A&O Hostel! 

Of course, for us 

this is a nice recognition 

of our work in

same time that means, 

that thousands of teachers take on 

the task, „class trip,“ with full commitment 

and help so many young people to 

get completely new impressions and experiences. 

The importance of extracurricular learning, 

also on school trips, is undisputable 

by now, which makes it even more 

important to continuously improve its 

framework.

Really funny and creative also are the photos, some with up to

Youth travel and proper nourishment - do these really go together? 

We think it is possible. 

A youth trip is only great after all, 

if enough energy and power exist to 

experience everything. Of course, we 

also know that fast food is still the 

favorite food of most young adults, but a 

real meal, and a tasty one at that, is the 

better alternative. For this reason, in all 

A&O HOTELS and HOSTELS balanced 

meals are served in buffet style. Included 

in our room rates is our most popular 

„All-You-Can-Eat“ Breakfast consisting 

of cereal, whole grain products, fresh 

bread, yogurt, cottage cheese, various 

meats and cheeses, sweet spreads, 

eggs, fresh fruit and salad as well as 

tea, coffee, milk and juices. The social 

aspect of a common meal is not to 

be underestimated. Eating together 

promotes well-being and strengthens 

the team spirit! Relaxing together in the 

evening, reviewing the day‘s experiences 

or planning further activities - a nice 

ending to an exciting day! 

We offer groups the opportunity to 

additionally book lunch or dinner. We 

only use freshly prepared products from 

REWE supermarkets (no frozen foods). 

The menus always include appetiser, 

main course and dessert plus salad and 

a drink. 

In almost every house - if weather 

permits - the half board can be booked 

as a barbecue in the evening. If you are 

on the move, we offer a packed lunch: 

with sandwiches, a cold drink, fruit and 

something sweet; it is easily put inside 

your bag and may be eaten during a 

leisurely break on the way. Book your half 

or full board in advance - and the costs

We happily respond to your special 

dietary requirements (such as allergies,

Inside completely modern, outside typically Hanseatic. The A&O Hostel at 

Hamburg Central Station is located in an old office building with brick facade, 

in which once were piled up goods from around the world. Nowadays, guests are 

„stored“ here, extremely comfortable between the old warehouse district and 

Alster. 

A highlight of this A&O hostel is the „Astra Bar“ where drinks and snacks are offered 

at reasonable prices. A very special entertainment kick provided by, among

the guests to stay in a safe and comfortable

The central city locations of A&O houses 

occasionally lead to an increased need 

for security of the guests, which we like 

to take into account. Therefore, we have 

24-hour operation, 365 days a year, in 

all houses. 

Our guests will always find a competent 

person to assist them professionally with 

any problems that may arise. 

Without exception, all rooms and all 

public and private spaces are connected 

via fire alarm to the central fire alarm 

system. This has a direct line to the fire 

brigade, so that the emergency services 

can be alerted in an emergency without 

delay. 

The key cards for rooms are valid only 

for a limited time, so that, for example, 

surprises by “former residents” can 

be prevented, which may occur repeatedly 

with traditional key technology. 

The complete safety system in all A&O 

houses is supported by specially trained 

staff; and our night watches on duty, in 

addition to the front desk personnel, ensure 

the peaceful sleep of our guests.

An essential component of quality assurance 

is the continuous training of our 

QUALITy AND sAFETy AT A&O 

employees. This is carried out by experienced 

supervisors in all departments. 

Additionally, a self-developed online 

training tool is used to ensure the regular 

training of our staff. 

DEHOGA TEsTED & CERTIFIED 

Our houses are tested by the Deutscher 

Hotel- und Gaststättenverband (German 

Hotel and Restaurant Association) (Dehoga), 

which is responsible in Germany 

for the awarding of stars to hotels. 

A&O offers a reliable 2-star product. In 

this context, it is good to know that Germany 

has some of the strictest criteria 

in the world. Some of our hotels even 

received the title „Superior“ for outstanding 

achievements in the category. 

And why not 3 stars? We could certainly 

get it, but do you want to pay more for 

your bed in order to have a phone in the 

room? Most of our guests do not. They 

want a reliable budget product for their 

city trip. Nevertheless, here are some 

A&O services with which we significantly 

exceed the 2 star requirements: Reception 

(24 hours), bar, lobby, hair dryer 

and shampoo, WiFi, internet terminals, 

and more. 

TüV VERIFIED 

TÜV is one of the best known testing 

institutions in Germany, but of course, 

not only for carrying out main vehicle 

inspections. Since 2007, the A&O Hostels 

are continuously tested and certified 

for hygiene and safety, among other 

things, by TÜV Rheinland according 

to the „Youth Hostel Quality Standard“ 

with the ID - No. 0000018400. It is understood 

that most of these checks also 

apply to the hotel areas of our houses. 

In matters of security, the TÜV in Germany 

is certainly one of the most recognized

Historic place to stay 

Our modernly equipped hotel rooms are in the old Imperial German Railway Post 

Office no. 32 - where you sleep today, letters and packages were sorted over 100 

years ago. Today, the guests benefit from the close proximity to Central Station, 

Old Town and the city‘s nightlife. 

A&O Leipzig deliberately renovated the house very carefully. That way, you can 

still feel the charm of the historic building, especially in the lobby and the beautiful 

bar. Yet, that doesn‘t mean that you have to go without any modern comforts

supplier in the school trip sector. Twenty hotels and hostels in eleven cities are looking forward to your visit. Whether Berlin,

Vienna - at A&O, school classes are always welcome! 

Location 

All accommodations are centrally located, 

railway stations and public transport 

are just minutes away and buses can be 

parked in the immediate vicinity of most 

hostels. A&O is always in the middle of 

it! 

Bedrooms 

Our rooms are modernly furnished and 

equipped with a shower and toilet. In 

general, the students are accommodated 

in four to six-bed rooms, teachers 

and bus drivers stay in comfortable single 

or double rooms. 

Catering 

Included in our room rates is our delicious, 

balanced breakfast buffet consisting 

of cereal, whole grain products, 

fresh bread, yogurt, cottage cheese, various 

meats and cheeses, sweet spreads, 

eggs, fresh fruit and salad. If you are 

on the move, we offer a packed lunch: 

with sandwiches, a cold drink, fruit and 

something sweet. Groups are also welcome 

to lunch or dinner (salad, main 

course and dessert). In almost every 

house - if weather permits - the half 

board can be booked as a barbecue in 

the evening.

Our group prices depend on the season. 

The high season prices are valid from 

March to October. During the off season 

from November to February group travel 

is especially low priced. And on the 

night of Sunday to Monday, during both 

seasons, we give an additional discount 

on the room rate. Every 21 st person stays 

for free. 

Benefits for accompanying teachers or 

group leaders 

Teachers and accompanying adults get 

free drinks, have free internet access 

and can use our A&O Lounge as a place 

for breaks, work and relaxation. The A&O 

Lounge, an integral part of all A&O Hostels, 

is equipped with computer, printer, 

fax and telephone (free local calls), 

free internet access, kettle, and a cozy 

sitting area. 

Leisure time 

For the pupils, there are group rooms 

and bars, with table football, billiard, table 

tennis and Wii lounge. Events such 

as karaoke nights or student disco and, 

of course, our internet terminals and 

wireless access throughout the building 

and in all rooms, are very popular for 

school classes.

Any way you like: From the A&O Hostel the Austrian capital can be comfortably 

explored by foot, by public transportation or bicycle, that can be hired from 

reception. The house is not far away from Vienna‘s West railway station and the 

Museum Quarter. 

The hostel, opened in January 2009, impresses with the most modern facilities 

such as wireless and internet terminals, but also provides a good amount of cosiness

Royal and imperial feelings 

The second, brand-new A&O opens in Vienna at the new Central Station in spring
