NAF-Torex butterfly valvesDN 80-700, Size 3-28”,PN 10-40, ANSI Class 150, 300Fk 41.42(18)GB11.04Primary characteristicsNAF-Torex, High-Performance butterfly valve is availablewith either metal-to-metal or soft seats. Due to its uniquedesign and triple offset, it closes extremely tight. It can beused both as a control valve and as a shut-off valve.Thisvalve can be supplied in either wafer or lugged versions. The valves are also available in other materials e.g. Carbonsteel, and Titanium, other stainless steel materials and inFire-safe design. Contact NAF for more information. The valve has:· triple offset design enables the valve closure to beextremely tight· small offset results in low operating torque in allcontrol positions, so that low-torque actuators canbe used.· a special disc profile (segment of a toroid) - aprinciple which eliminates abrasive sliding actionwhen the disc is opening and closing - ensures alonger service life.· a high mean value of seating angle, so that thedisc closes without tending to stick in the closedposition, virtually eliminates any disk popping whenopening the valve.· PTFE lined bearings. For temperature above 250°Chard chromium stem, direct mounted in the body· a one-piece valve body of stainless steel.· a metallic or soft seat ring. Soft seats of threedifferent materials are available.· the NAF standard for mounting the actuator, whichsimplifies installation and results in a compactvalve/actuator unit.CE-markedAccording to Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 97/23/EG) module H, category III.For module H1, category IV contact NAFApplicationsNAF-Torex can be used both as a control valve and as ashut-off valve, in a wide variety of applications and in differentoperating modes. The valve represents a concrete result of our productphilosophy which is focused on functionality, high qualityand low life cycle costs, and is based on concentrating ourrange to a limited number of valve types, but all of themsuitable for a wide variety of applications. The excellent characteristics of NAF-Torex are particularlybeneficial in arduous control applications, in which difficultmedia and demanding pressure conditions make severedemands on the design, materials and performance.NAF-Torex is recommended for applications in the followingbranches:-Pulp and Paper-Chemical and Petro Chemical-Oil and gas-Power stations-Steel works1Technical specification for standard designMaterial: EN 1.4408Size range: DN 80-700, 3-28”Pressure ratings: PN 10 - 40ANSI Class 150 and 300Max. differential pressure:valve closed DN 80-700 25 barat 70° open valve DN 80 8 barDN 100 13 bar(Limitation depending DN 125 11 barof high velocity with DN 150 6,5 barbig dynamic torque DN 200 4,5 barat this differential DN 250 3 barpressure when valve DN 300 2,7 baris open 70°) DN 350 1,8 barDN 400 2 barDN 500 1,9 barDN 600, 700 1,8 barSee also page 2Face-to-face lengths: Wafer typePN 10-25: EN 558-1, serie20ANSI Class 150: APIstandard 609 Class 150PN 40: EN 558-1, serie 16ANSI Class 300: APIstandard 609 Class 300Lug typeANSI Class 150: APIStandard 609 Class 150Valve design: ANSI B 16.34 and EN 12516Installation method: Wafer type and Lug type bodyTemperature range:Test pressure:Sealing class:-30 - 350°C (see product code)1.5 x PN with valve open1.1 x Max. differentialpressure with valve closed.Test medium is water.Soft seats:EN 12266-1, Rate AMetal seats:IEC 534-4, Class VAt requests for test fluid Air, contact NAF for moreinformation.

To achievethe specified tightness with a metal or a PTFE seat ring, the minimum design torque is that corresponding to adifferential pressure of 10 bar. At flow through the valvethe disc is being affected by dynamic torque which tries toclose the valve. At liquid flow and high velocities this maybe decisive for selection of actuator size. In general, forthis valve, is valid that water velocities below 8 m/s in thepipe line at fully open valve do not give a dynamic torquehigher than the closing torques according to the abovetable. This means that it is utmost rare that the dynamic torqueis decisive for the actuator selection. In doubts, consult NAF concerning the torque requiredfor actuator selection.Sizing of control valvesWe have a user friendly valve calculation program whichcan be ordered through your NAF representative. Theprogram is based on calculating formula according tothe standards IEC 60534 and ISA S75.01.3
