4. Peer Review ProcessAll manuscripts directly uploaded to Editorial Manager receive individualidentification codes. The Managing Editor then sends them to an appropriateEditor. However a submission may be declined by the Managing Editor withoutreview, if deemed inappropriate for reasons other than scientific merit. The primary criteria for judging the acceptability of a manuscript are itsoriginality, scientific importance and interest to a general geoscientists’audience. This policy permits declination of a manuscript solely on the Editor'sjudgment that the studies reported are not sufficiently novel or important tomerit publication in the CEJG.a) Choice of reviewersThe Editor responsible for a given area of geosciences turns to experts of thesubject for opinion. Research articles and communications are reviewed byminimum two reviewers, review papers by at least three.b) Suggestions from authorsAuthors are requested to suggest persons competent to review theirmanuscripts. However, please note that this will be treated only as a suggestion;the final selection of reviewers is exclusively the Editor's decision. The reviewersremain anonymous in any case. The Editor is fully responsible for decision about the manuscript. The finaldecision, whether to accept or reject a paper, rests with him/her. The ManagingEditor only communicates the final decision and informs the author about furtherprocessing.5. Revised manuscript submissionWhen revision of a manuscript is requested, authors should return the revisedversion of their manuscript as soon as possible. Prompt action may ensure fastpublication, if the paper is finally accepted for publication in CEJG. If it is the firstrevision of an article authors need to return their revised manuscript within 60days. If it is the second revision authors need to return their revised manuscriptwithin 14 days. If these deadlines are no met, and no specific arrangements forcompletion have been made with the Editor, the manuscript will be treated as anew one and will receive a new identification code along with a new registrationdate.6. Final proofreadingAuthors will receive a PDF file with the edited version of their manuscripts forfinal proofreading. This is the last opportunity to view an article before itspublication on the journal's web site. No changes or modifications can beintroduced once it is published. Thus authors are requested to check their proofpages carefully against manuscript within 3 days and prepare a separatedocument containing list of all the changes that should be introduced. Authorsare sometimes asked to provide additional comments and explanations inresponse to remarks and queries from the language and technical editors. Incase the authors do not deliver the list of corrections to proofs in the requestedtime the manuscript will be published without corrections.
