PrefaceRevised Code Wash<strong>in</strong>gton 43.44.060 requires fire <strong>in</strong>cidents to be reported to the Office of the <strong>State</strong><strong>Fire</strong> Marshal <strong>in</strong> accordance with the National <strong>Fire</strong> Incident <strong>Report</strong><strong>in</strong>g System (NFIRS). NFIRS is an all<strong>in</strong>cidentreport<strong>in</strong>g system that captures the full range of <strong>in</strong>cident activity. Many agencies documentand report all <strong>in</strong>cidents, while some agencies only report fires as stated <strong>in</strong> the statute.This report provides an overview of all <strong>in</strong>cident categories reported, with fire <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>in</strong> <strong>2010</strong> asthe primary focus. The statistical reports are generated from the United <strong>State</strong>s <strong>Fire</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istrationweb site based on NFIRS 5.0 data reported from the Wash<strong>in</strong>gton <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fire</strong> Service. Where necessary,<strong>in</strong>formation from secondary sources is used to provide more <strong>in</strong>‐depth analysis and clarity. Figurespresented may vary slightly based on the day the summary report was generated. Any datasubmitted after the summary reports were generated are not reflected <strong>in</strong> this publication.Page 4
