All Light Controls are in the Sterile Field1. 1,890 Facets ... the reflector is constructed from a single piece ofhighly-polished aluminum alloy. The single piece constructionensures that the quality of pattern is maintained over timepreventing any distortion. The surface of the reflector has 1,890facets precisely honed into the surface to capture the maximumamount of light available and project it down into the field of view.2. The facets deliver the intensity required; and to achieve theshadow reduction, the 1,890 facets have been divided intoclusters of approximately 30. The light reflected from each of the30 facets illuminates an area of the light pattern. To achieve thedesired level of performance, the light from only 7-8 facets isrequired. Since these facets are spread evenly throughout thelight head it stands to reason that the light head will tolerate70-75% (20-22 facets) of the light output being blocked beforea noticeable decrease in light intensity is witnessed.Changing Bulbs Made EasyEach lamp head carries two bulbs.If one fails, the second one illuminatesimmediately, making the changeover virtuallyunnoticed. Bulbs can be replaced in a matterof minutes, without tools. Spares are storedin the wall-mounted control.The light can be turned on and off,and the intensity, pattern, andposition can all be adjustedfrom the sterile handle.Wall ControlsWall-mounted controls areprecise and easy to use.The smooth, easy-to-cleanhousing also stores spare bulbsin a concealed compartment.3. To achieve the quality of pattern required, that doesn’t scatterunnecessary light outside the surgical field, the reflector combinestwo geometric shapes namely, elliptical and parabolic. The outeredge of the reflector uses the parabola to give a defined edge tothe pattern while also providing a soft feathered edge to helpreduce eyestrain. The ellipse provides for an adjustable focalpoint to allow maximum movement of the light during differentprocedures without compromising the workable depth of field.
