WELCOMEI am delighted to introduce Trinity <strong>Laban</strong>’s<strong>Diary</strong> of <strong>Music</strong> Performances and <strong>Events</strong> forSummer 2013.The final term of the academic year isbookended by two major festivals, attractinginternational artists and marking outGreenwich as the place to be this summer.As the term begins, we welcome criticallyacclaimed string quartets from all over theworld to take part in the third and newly titled Royal GreenwichString Quartet Festival, reflecting Greenwich’s status as a RoyalBorough. Taking place over three days, the Festival showcasessome of today’s finest exponents of string chamber music,including the critically acclaimed Quatuor Mosaïques. It will alsofeature a very special world première performance to be givenby The Smith Quartet on board the famous Cutty Sark, a stone’sthrow away from the Faculty of <strong>Music</strong>’s home within the groundsof the Old Royal Naval College.Later in the term, enjoy a firm feature of the summer calendar,Trinity <strong>Laban</strong>’s annual jazz festival, Inside Out. This year’sfive-day celebration will include masterclasses and workshopswith celebrated artists and performances by leading studentensembles. For something new,the Piano and Organ Department will launch a series of Sundayafternoon recitals at the National Maritime Museum, furthercementing Trinity <strong>Laban</strong>’s relationship with <strong>our</strong> close neighb<strong>our</strong>s,Royal Museums Greenwich. If you are a fan of the Trinity <strong>Laban</strong>Symphony Orchestra, don’t miss their last performance of thisacademic year taking place on 13 June at Blackheath Halls. Thisconcert will also include an opportunity to hear the winner of the2013 Trinity <strong>Laban</strong> Soloists' Competition perform a concerto withthe orchestra.Finally, <strong>our</strong> annual opera will take centre stage at BlackheathHalls from 26–29 June at Blackheath Halls. This year, we will beperforming Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach.
