CO/LP Gas DetectorHEATING & AIR CONDITIONINGSince LP (i.e., liquid propane) gas is more dense than air, the LP gas will naturally settle to the lowestpoint in an enclosed space—in the motor home, this would be the floor.Because of this fact, the CO/LP gas detector (Figure 3-6) is necessarilymounted close to the floor. To activate the CO/LP-gas sensor on thisdetector for the first time, remove the sensor activation strip, if such wasnot performed during the pre-delivery inspection. If the alarm persists in re-arming and giving further alarms; ventilate the motorhome (by opening doors and windows) and then check for possible LP gas Figure 3-6. CO/LP Gas Detectorleaks. If the leak cannot be readily found, then close the main valve to the LPtank and turn “off” all gas appliances and then take the motor home to a qualified service technician after theventilation process is concluded and the doors and windows again shut.3-7
